August 29th is National Whiskey Sour Day

The whiskey sour is definitely an under appreciated cocktail. It’s been around for such a long time (first reports of the cocktail date back to the 1870’s) that we may as well consider it a universal constant. And while it’s not uncool, it’s certainly not part of the pre-prohibition cocktail parade every bar is touting. It’s a shame because much like the sainted Old Fashioned, the simplicity is part of the charm – bourbon, lemon juice, simply syrup, and if you’re feeling snazzy, egg white.
