ABDOMEN

BUTT TUNES
With Seb Patane
Seb Patane in his London studio.

Ah, the reassuring sound of two men’s voices singing in unison. The song is a gentle coda from a longer soundscape, which reverberates throughout a new installation, Abdomen, from Italian artist Seb Patane. It’s the most calming and ethereal soundtrack we’ve ever heard about the song’s subject, Patane’s own nagging bouts of hypochondria.

This week the London-based Sicilian finds himself in Naples, Italy mixing music and field recordings — a psychedelic trip of spoken word and birdsong — into his more sculptural approach to art making. Patane sung and arranged his song with Berlin-based musician Andrew Moss.

‘Abdomen’ (excerpt)

This is the last picture before I die
This is the last picture before I die
This is the last picture before I die
This is the last picture before I die

And when I see it I’ll be ready to die each and every day
And if I see it I’ll be happy to die each and every day
And when I see it I feel like I’m dying each and every day
And if I see it I’ll be happy to die each and every day

This is the last picture before I die
This is the last picture before I die
This is the last picture before I die
This is the last picture before I die
