Sarah Paulson Reveals Character For Next Season Of 'American Horror Story: Freak Show'

Actress Sarah Paulson shared this image via her twitter today, confirming just one of many suspicions about her role in everyone’s favorite upcoming horror anthology.  And so, the American Horror Story: Freak Show speculation begins a new era!  Ryan Murphy‘s gore-geous series returns October 15th, and while details are sparse about the new series, it’s about time we separated fact from freak-show fiction.

But the real question on everyone’s mind is: who will play the bearded lady!?

Here’s what we do know about AHS: FS:

Jessica Lange is returning (for her last season on the show).  Murphy has confirmed that the former baddest-witch-in-town is working on her German.  She’ll be playing the Marlene Dietrich-esque matriarch of the 1950′s Florida based Freak Show, fighting desperately to keep her cabal of curiosities alive.  Despite rumors, whether or not she’ll be bearded is TBD.

The Wire‘s Michael Chiklis will be playing Lange’s ex-husband.  We can safely assume he’ll be looking for some kind of revenge.  Possibly in a clown outfit?  Despite rumors, whether or not he’ll be bearded is TBD.
Evan Peters is returning as the son of Kathy Bates and Michael Chiklis.  Let’s hope Murphy doesn’t make him eat any Carl’s Jr.  Despite rumors, whether or not he’ll be bearded is TBD.

Kathy Bates will be playing Chiklis’ other ex-wife and mother of Evan Peters.  Despite rumors, whether or not she’ll be bearded is TBD (although, let’s be real, she’d make the best bearded lady).

Other actors returning to the series include: Gabourey Sidibe, Angela Bassett, Jamie Brewer, Emma Roberts, and Denis O’Hare.  Despite rumors, whether or not they will be bearded is TBD.
And here are some predictions:

Evan Peters will play a dreamy sword-swallower caught in a torrid love triangle with Emma Roberts (a waste-training corset-wearer) and Taissa Farmiga (once she’s confirmed to return to the show).

Angela Bassett will play the tattooed lady.

Denis O’Hare will play a child-molesting evil clown.

Sarah Paulson’s two heads will argue with each other in what seems like incessant banter but will eventually broil over into a heartbreaking conflict.

Jessica Lange will be bad ass and maybe kind of a Nazi.

Kathy Bates will have a beard.
