The greatest pop music in history comes from those two decades, but even I have to admit that it wasn't all spectacular, and we’re going to look at 20 songs that missed the mark. But if you think these are going to be the obvious targets, you may be disappointed. “We Built This City” is routinely named the worst of the 80′s by list-makers, but it’s not here. Because it KICKS ASS! Okay, maybe not, but it hardly deserves to be named the worst. Now … here we go!

Stryper (“salvation through redemption, yielding peace, encouragement and righteousness.” No, seriously) was the most successful Christian metal band in music history. Of course, they were the only Christian metal band in music history. No, that’s not true. I’m sure there were others. But they were the biggest … and most obnoxious. In the mid to late 80′s they spread their message of faith and generic hair rock, while wearing outfits that made them look like bumblebees. Their late 86 album To Hell With The Devil went platinum on the strength of the screeching power ballad “Honestly,” which peaked at #23 in January 1988.
