June 21st is The Polar Bear Swim

In Nome, Alaska, since 1975, on the red sand beaches, more than 100 intrepid swimmers have plunged into the frigid Bering Sea on this day. The swim may be rescheduled if the ocean ice hasn't sufficiently broken up.
