Top 100 Hits Of The Ladies Of the 80′s

From: The Backlot
#3
Stand Back
Stevie Nicks
If “Edge Of Seventeen” had hit the top ten, it would have been the #1 song on this entire list, but it peaked at …. #11, and is therefore disqualified. There have to be rules! But Stevie had to be represented in the top five, and “Stand Back” is probably the signature song of her solo career. She wrote it after listening to “Little Red Corvette,” and during the recording Prince swooped in, played keyboards, and then left. It marked a new synth sound for Stevie, and of course she made it work splendidly. It peaked at #5 in August 1983.

Monday’s Clue – It’s a heartache this song only spent four weeks at #1.
