COUNTRY PRIDE

As Gay Pride Month draws to a close, I thought we would revisit a past post.

As you know, the boys and I live on a ranch in a small town in Texas. To get to our home, you have to drive down a few miles of winding country road. A couple weeks ago, we noticed that one of our neighbors had painted their fence. Normally, it's not a big deal, but their color choices were a bit surprising... rainbow. Hmmm, Pride Month, rainbow colored fence... coincidence?

Last week, we ran into the couple at the local Wal-Mart (my life is so glamorous) and we asked about the fence. They said it was a joke brought on by their neighbors. They always give them a hard time about their boring black fence, so the neighbors dared them to paint their fence the colors of the rainbow, and they did.

Cute story, but not the one I wanted to hear. We said our goodbyes and didn't inform them of their unintentional tribute to Gay Pride. I just told them I appreciate the smile it puts on my face every time I drive by.

... 2 years later, it still brings a smile to my face.
