April 6th is Teflon Day

Today we celebrate the accidental invention of Dr. Roy Plunkett on April 6, 1938 while in a DuPont Lab. His invention was polytetrafluoroethylene now called Teflon. It's a slipper material often used in non-stick pans. Dr. Plunkett was added to the National Inventors’ Hall of Fame in 1985.

The word Teflon also became a pop culture word in the 1980s as the then President Reagan was referred to as the Teflon president since none of the bad press stuck to him.
