Phillip Avalon (b 24 February 1955) is an Australian writer, producer, director and actor of films and TV.
Film writer Scott Murray wrote in 1993 that:
If Australia has any producer-cum-auteurs, then Phillip Avalon is certainly one... Avalon's films are preoccupied with violence bubbling to the surface in a lower-middle-class society repressed by Christian and materialist values. He has a decided affinity for the topsider, for those who refuse to play society's games, and whose anti-social attitudes may, in fact, conceal a soul well attuned to life's pulses.

Phil Avalon was born & raised in Newcastle. He began his entertainment career by selling seats to his own puppet shows at age five. In his teens he became a male model and soon became one of Australia's highest paid in this profession. (Early centerfolds of his work are now highly sought after pieces of memoribillia). His first writing & producing work at age 20 was a stage play 'The Backstreet General', it was both a critical & financial success and will be soon produced as a big budget movie. Phil supported his producing & writing career with guest appearances in movies and television programs like 'Inn Of The Damned' and 'Number 96'. His next production, Australia's first telemovie -'Double Dealer'. Phil wrote, produced and played the lead role. Next,'Summer City. This movie was conceived when Phil re-connected with some of his surfing buddies from his competition days. 'Summer City' starred Mel Gibson, Steve Bisley, (in their first on screen roles)John Jarrat and Phil. It broke box office records and is now considered a cult classic. Phil then began winding up his acting career in films 'Inn Of The Damned' and 'Number 96'the movie. 'Little Boy Lost' was produced by Phil in the late seventies, but he took his name off the title after a dispute with the executive producer. He then produced 'Breaking Loose', 'Sher Mountain Killings Mystery', 'Fatal Bond', 'Exchange Lifeguards', 'Signal One', Tunnel Vision' 'Trackdown - The Finder', ' The Pact' and then 'directed and produced 'Liquid Bridge'in 2003.
