On March 28, 1881, Phineas Taylor Barnum joined with James A. Bailey to create P.T. Barnum's Greatest Show On Earth®. Although Barnum and Bailey "went their separate ways" in 1885, they once again joined forces in 1888 and toured the United States as "Barnum & Bailey Greatest Show on Earth."
