March 10th is World Kidney Day

World Kidney Day (WKD) is a global health awareness campaign focusing on the importance of the kidneys and reducing the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide.
World Kidney Day is observed annually on the 2nd Thursday in March. Initially in 66 countries observed this date in 2006(the year it started) and then this number rose to 88 in 2years. WKD is a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF). It's true that most forms of kidney disease are treatable but this was not known by common people. Hence, this Day spread the message across the countries through campaigns, raised awareness and revealed facts and figures regarding Kidney.
