Gremlins
The greatest Christmas film of all time (although the Phoebe Cates character may argue with that), it started as a sweet, gentle family film, and then halfway through turned into a horror parody of sweet, gentle family films, freaking out parents who thought it was going to be another E.T.
Can you imagine trying to explain this scene to your traumatized 6-year-old?
