One of the greatest cult films of all time, Terry Gilliam proved that Time Bandits was no fluke, as he presented another film filled with visual splendor. The backstory is infamous, as Universal chairman Sid Sheinberg insisted the film be cut down to 90 minutes from its original 142 minutes for U.S. release, and a Hollywood “Love Conquers All” ending replace Gilliams’ original dark and poignant ending. Avoid this version.
