The first of two movies from Paul Verhoeven on the list, this was his first big Hollywood success, and shows some of the satirical touches that would later show up in such 90′s output as Starship Troopers. It still holds up for the most part over 25 years later, and the upcoming sequel is going to be hard pressed to live up to it.
