BEAUTIFULMAG COVER STORY | HAMAM

NOTHING IS MORE RELAXING THAN A HAMAM. IF YOU EVER TOOK THE TIME TO VISIT A QUALITY SAUNA WITH STEAM BATH YOU KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT. THOUGH AS OLD AS THE ANCIENT GREEK AND ROMAN EMPIRES, IT WAS MOSTLY THE OTTOMANS IN ANCIENT TURKEY WHO MADE THE USE OF BATHHOUSES POPULAR. CLEANSING AND RELAXATION IN A TURKISH BATH BECAME IMMENSELY POPULAR IN EUROPE DURING THE VICTORIAN ERA AS A DISCOVERY THAT WAS LOST BUT HAD BEEN FOUND AGAIN. AND STILL TODAY MANY ENJOY THE LUXURY OF INDULGING YOURSELF IN CLOUDS OF HOT VAPOUR THAT CLEANS BODY AND SOUL. HAMAM IS EQUIVALENT FOR FEELING GOOD.

Looking at him one might draw the conclusion Zach Hamam has some very exotic roots. Yes, one might even believe Zach is of Turkish origin. Nothing could be further from the truth though. Zach was born in Kansas City, Missouri and grow up the all American boy. Still our introduction is not so strange. Zach’s surname obviously is the link and even though he has nothing to do with Turkey or bathhouses, one look in Zachs piercing eyes is enough to know that like the concept of the hamam, Zach too has the ability to make you feel good. And besides that, is the city of Kansas nicknamed City of Fountains?

As mentioned before, Zach Hamam origins from Kansas City, where he was born in the year 1982. He refers to himself as being a poised professional and experienced model and actor. Zach began his journey at very young age doing commercials for Midas and Tide, followed by a casting in the 1989 film Mr and Mrs Bridge. Zach basically grew up in front of camera’s and through the artic interpretation of some great photographers. Hence his face is quite familiar. A fact also due to having worked as brand ambassadors for companies such as Nike, Coca-Cola and Gatorade. And the ones who are closer related to the fashion industry will with no doubt recognize Zach from the runway. Yes, Zach Hamam is a well-occupied man when it comes to artistic expressions.

Lucas Ferrier has been active as photographer since 10 years but started his career in front of the camera. As a model he worked the runways in New York, Milan, Paris and London and that experience has given him a treasure of knowledge he now cleverly applies in his photographic work. Which is an obvious given looking at the work he did with Zach Hamam. The combination of two men with so much experience in expression has resulted in an amazing set of photos that are both fashionable in composition and sensual in poses. The fact all shots are either black and white or in very subdued colors only add to this intimate and most professional look and feel.

Pablo Picasso once said: "I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.Zach Hamam lives by that same motto. Currently residing in Sarasota, Florida, Zach has made it his career to present what his client wants, and he stops at nothing to achieve that goal. Perfection, professionalism, loyalty, and of course, a bit of humor are the attributes that I carry to each and every set. In addition to his good looks, Zach in a force of energy on every set he works. Refreshing, reenergizing, inspiring. Just like a dive in fresh pool or an indulgent moment in a hot steam bath. –BM-
