Brendan Healy in the photos told me the story behind this shoot: ”This summer, my boyfriend and I rented a house in the middle of the Joshua Tree National Park with my childhood friend Heather Cassils (an amazing LA-based performance artist http://heathercassils.com) and her wife. One afternoon, Alejandro and I went exploring the area and came across this abandoned portable in the middle of the desert that must have been a classroom at some point. These photos are what came out of that. ”

Brendan has been working as a professional director for the past decade and has managed to establish himself as a central figure in Canada’s theatre scene. Alejandro Santiago was born in Puerto Rico and was raised in Miami, FL. His photography career began at 18 when he documented the U.S. tour of rock band 311.
