National Carry A Tune Week ~ October 6 - October 12

What makes it a tune?

Definitions:

(a) a pleasing succession of musical tones: Melody.

(b) a dominant theme.

--from Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition.
You don’t need to be a contestant on American Idol or other television show.

All you need is the willingness to look back and pick some of your favorite American tunes during National Carry A Tune Week.

This week is set aside to remember favorite tunes from the recent or distant past.

Back in 2001, music preservationist and songwriter Roger Hall wanted to remember the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks through music. So he came up with the idea of asking music lovers to select tunes for a week of remembrance in October.

That grass roots idea has developed the annual free event known as National Carry A Tune Week.

So far there have been over 200 American tunes chosen.
