Fall Into These 10 Fashion Long Johns

From:  The Underwear Expert
Did you grow up watching A Christmas Story? Yes, we know that Christmas is a couple of months away, but as we are sifting through seasonal underwear, we can’t help but think of that scene where Ralphie’s mom overdresses his brother with a million layers. He’s so overdressed that when he falls, he finds it absolutely impossible to get back up. It’s one of the most remembered scene from the film.
What does this have to do with fashionable long johns? Well, like Ralphie’s brother, we have memories of growing up in New York with moms that would bundle us up. We used to hate it. As a adults, we have a better understanding of what below zero degrees Fahrenheit actually  means and can appreciate our moms a little more. But, we also remember some of our least favorite long johns. For a lot of us, they were definitely function over fashion; they were ribbed, oatmeal colored, and felt pretty cheap on the skin. Though they were atrocious, they did the trick.
As a kid with fashion defined by aged parents, you don’t have much choice. But, as an adult and, most importantly, as an Underwear Expert, you shouldn't be caught dead in uncomfortable gear. There are so many different kinds of long johns to look into for Fall and Winter. Fashionable long johns that are perfect for different activities, made with different fabrics, and designed with colors and prints that are fun.

 Understated & Classic
Long johns, as in every underwear, doesn't always have to be over the top. American Apparel offers long johns ($22.99) in fun colors that have a classic ribbed fit.
 Pop Prints
When shopping for long johns, you will come in contact with a lot of prints that push beyond simple flannel. These prints are definitely statement pieces. The Bjorn Borg bomb long john ($49.95) is definitely "the bomb" that blows other prints out of the water. The contrast of black with the color lettering is everything you can ask in a print.
 Pop Colors
This season you will see a lot of prints, but, you will also see a lot of colors. Though some may be subdued, we'd recommend that, if you are going to wear color, just go for it! Wear a color that really pops. The blue and red C-IN2 Prime long underwear options ($44) are great pieces for those wanting to add that color to their wardrobes.
 Hitting the Slopes
No matter what part of the world you live in, when the holiday season comes, there is a call to head out to the mountains for some skiing. When you are hitting the slopes, you need a long john fit for athletics as well as on that feels snug/soft. The Jack Adams Core long john ($40) is made up of a cotton blend perfect for an activity like this.
 Flannel
When you think of spending a night in a cabin the woods, what's the first thing that comes to mind? We know images of the Brawny man and his flannel are the first things for us. In terms of long johns, flannel is a print that will always be relevant. Jockey's Chicago Nights Fashion long john ($32) masters this print in addition to being composed of some of the best lightweight fabrics.
 Athletic
You will probably be spending a lot of time in the gym this season. That said, for those who like a nice brisk Fall run should consider an athletic long john. The Malebasics microfiber long john ($44.10) feels like a second skin as its uplift technology offers you the best support during work outs.
 Patchy Prints
A fun print that really stands out this season are long johns that look like they are patched together. The feel follows in the trend of the current 90s throwback. Muchchachomalo's long johns are at the forefront of this trend.
 Happy Camper
Long johns should be a part of your camping gear this fall. If you are going to be sleeping outside, you are going to want to keep warm. Nothing beats a long john made up of thermal cotton. N2N's Campfire Thermal Long John ($34) is great for such an occasion.
 Outerwear
Last year, around this time, we ran an editorial about wearing long johns as outerwear. This year, especially in the Fall season, this style doesn't seem to be going away. Nasty Pig ($39) is one brand that promotes wearing its long johns in such a way, even expanding its colors this season.
Long Johns for a Cause
PACT is one underwear company that makes pieces with charity efforts in mind. Purchasing a PACT Fair Isle long john ($38) will help out small business owners reach their dreams this season.
