For many Americans, racing is not just a hobby but a way of life. Countless hours are spent preparing for, travelling to, and camping out at race tracks across America. Because of these diehard race fans, the Motorsports Awareness Task Force has created Motorsports Awareness Month and the grassroots program, "Take a Friend to a Race." This effort is designed to spread the passion for racing to people who have never experienced it before and attract new fans and maybe even future drivers! During the month of August, fans are simply asked to take someone who has never been before to a race. August was chosen to represent Motorsports Awareness Month because racing is a family oriented sport, and the last month of Summer vacation is a perfect time for families to come together.
