Assistance Dog Day - August 5

Assistance Dog Day is a reminder to celebrate all of the amazing tasks that service dogs perform on a daily basis.  Since 2007 this day has been reserved as a day to honor the commitment of everyone involved in the life of a service dog and the hard work and dedication of our canine service companions.  Service dogs act as guides for the visually impaired, medical alert dogs for seizure and diabetic patients, hearing assistance for the deaf, as well as providing stability and independence for physically disabled individuals, among other tasks.  If you ever have the opportunity to stop and watch the partnership between service dogs and their human companions you will likely be surprised by just how many changes having a service dog can make in the life of an individual, from simple companionship to lifesaving and life altering tasks, these four-legged helpers assist in creating a brighter future one step at a time
