ARMANDO SANTOS. MISTER GAY EUROPE AND WORLD 2013

FRANCE HAS EMBRACED THE EQUALITY LAW AND EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE STILL ADVERSARIES, THE LAW IS A FACT. LAST SUNDAY, JULY 14, THE MOST IMPORTANT NATIONAL HOLIDAY IN FRANCE, THE EIFFEL TOWER WAS BASKING IN RAINBOW COLORED LIGHT. A BOLD STATEMENT WITH WHICH THE COUNTRY AND ITS GOVERNMENT HAS SHOWN WHERE ITS LOYALTY AND COMMON SENSE LIES.  COULD THERE BE ANY BETTER YEAR THAN TO HAVE A FRENCH MISTER GAY EUROPE AND MISTER GAY WORLD? I REALLY DON’T THINK SO.
France is taking a lead position when it comes to bold decisions. Whether it concerns religious expression of, in this case, sexual emancipation, France has shown that they can make decisions that are the right ones, even if it goes against some powerful groups in the society. For the Mister Gay Europe and the Mister Gay World 2013 elections France is represented by Armando Santos. A young man who embodies that same bold genuineness and fairness the country has shown over the past weeks.

We always knew Armando Santos has it in him to become that flag bearer at the Mister Gay Europe and World 2013 elections in respectively Prague and Antwerp. Hence the fact his face is one of the few that since a few months graces the famous orange BeautifulMag header, and Armando is also included in the gallery of BM covers. But Mister Gay Europe or Mister Gay World 2013 is not something you become easily. And so Armando can use your help.
Let us tell you a little bit more about this remarkable young man. Born in Brussels, Armando Santos is of Portuguese-Lebanese origin, has lived in Portugal and Spain, but resides since many years now in Paris and is a Frenchmen and European in everything he does and represents. Perfectly at ease with his sexuality and appearance, Armando is not only a well-sought after model and role model, but, at 27, also a dream-come-true for many gay men. Which shows by the fact he enjoys immense popularity on Facebook, where he has gathered a generous fan base.

Events such as Gay Pride’s and the election of a Mr Gay Europe and World are now more important than ever. With voices rising up everywhere calling for equal rights where it comes to marriage and adoption, every opportunity to speak out must be used. Armando Santos is not the kind of guy to shy away from that. “I’m proud to be gay and proud of my country France, which has finally adopted equal marriage right for everyone,” comments the dark haired hunk. “I would be honored to be elected Mr Gay Europe and – yes – World 2013 and act as a role model and ambassador for gay rights. As Mr Gay Europe 2013 I would strongly support my European neighbors who have not embraced the equality rights yet. Also I am not afraid to take a stand against homophobia, which is still very much alive in sport and work environments.” Armando does not only represents the country France, and after that hopefully Europe, he was also chosen to be the figure head for the European leg of the International AIDS Foundation, which would give his election to the two titles even more importance and meaning.
Vote for Armando Santos on the People’s Choice page and help him to win that coveted title. And don’t forget you can and should vote once a day. Every vote counts. Do it to make the voice that France has taken over the past months count even more and make a statement for your own country in accepting gay men and women as equals. Do it because there can never be enough visibility given to a good cause such as the AIDS Foundation. And so it for Armando Santos himself. For what he stands for, and for the generous young man his is. Oh and did we mention he is sexy as hell as well? –BM-
