ABOUT PARROTS, AN ANTIQUE BED AND A MAN NAMED BOXER

 BEING A REAL ESTATE AGENT MAKES YOU GO TO UNEXPECTED PLACES. IT WAS ON ONE OF THESE ROAD TRIPS THAT THE MAN WHO GOES BY THE UNUSUAL NAME BOXER DISCOVERED AN ANTIQUE BED. OLD RUSTED IRON FRAMED IN A CANOPY WITH SWIRLS THAT BECAME HEAD AND FOOT BOARDS  THE BED SPOKE TO HIM AND HE HAD NO OTHER OPTION THAN TO TAKE IT HOME. WHERE IT WOULD BECOME A MAJOR INFLUENCE IN BOXER’S LIFE.

 Boxer lives in Phoenix, Arizona, where one of his passions is to keep parrots. He likes the colorful and cheerful birds so much, that about 8 years ago he decided to immortalize them with series of photos. This is where he came to realize that photography as well was something he could put his heart into and soon it became a major leisure activity.

 On one of Boxers professional visits, he discovered an incredible four poster iron bed. Old and rusty as it was he took it home, cleaned and restored it and gave it a permanent place in one of his bedrooms. Having a window on the west, every afternoon the sunlight angles into the room, giving the bed an impressive look. Something that Boxer noticed every time when he passed the room and eventually led him to use it as an important background for a new style in photography for him: male nudes.

 Over the years Boxers has become a local authority when it comes to art photography and models know where to find him. He likes to do things in a most casual and natural way: “I spend very little time coaxing a model into any certain position. My preference is a natural, less contrived look and by the same token, I prefer my models to have a very natural appearance. A couple days growth of beard - and hair that isn't fussed with. I don't use a makeup person and wardrobe isn't an issue.” This doesn't mean however that this is his only interest. Tomorrow is another day and his preferences seem to change quite a bit. But one thing that never changes is his enthusiasm. When he has finished a shoot and the model is getting ready to leave, he is already downloading the first card of photos in his computer, ready and exciting to see the result of an afternoons work.

 Boxer has created quite a portfolio of some beautiful men, most of them shot in and on that stunning bed. Josh, 18 years old, completely uninhibited, friendly and smart, is one of his favorites and a regular when it comes to doing new and experimental shoots. Tyler was introduced to Boxer through a mutual friend. Being a dancer he had no problem taking natural poses and his profession left him with a great toned body as well, which, of course, for a male photographer is always a pleasant thing to work with. And Zack Randall probably needs little introduction. This young porn actor has made many headlines in his career but what makes these photos so interesting is that they display a very different Zack than how we normally see him. And Boxer himself, well, he is a photographer we definitely will hear more of in the time to come. –B-
