Beware the zipper fly!!

In line with most every man’s worst nightmare, researchers at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) reported in a new study released last week that zipper fly pants are the leading cause of penile injuries among men in the United States. Yikes!

Published in the urology journal BJU International, the study goes on to suggest “form fitting underwear” as the best protection against such painful, unfortunate zipper fly snags. We always knew were in the business of saving lives!

According to researchers at UCSF, over 17,000 people visited the ER with genital injuries caused by zipper fly pants between 2002 and 2010. Most of these patients were men and the majority of them were men under the age of 18.

The moral of this story? If you’re under 18, zip with care. If you've got children or teenagers at home, make sure they have a plentiful supply of underwear that fits!
