From: Grand Rapids Press
Donald J. Trump will hold a "thank you" rally in Grand Rapids on Friday as part of a tour of states that contributed to his victory in the presidential election.

The rally will be at 7 p.m at the DeltaPlex Arena.

A hand recount of the 4.8 million ballots in Michigan started Monday, after a federal judge ruled in favor of the recount request by Green Party candidate Jill Stein.

Trump came to Michigan three times during the final week of campaigning, and including a late-night rally in Grand Rapids the night before the election and a rally at the DeltaPlex on Halloween.

Make our dreams come true, Mariah.

There was no better time for VH1 to resurrect its popular “Divas” franchise than the holiday season, especially since the show features Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey as its headliner.

Mimi was joined by Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan, Vanessa Williams and Teyana Taylor on Friday night to film the holiday special VH1 Divas Holiday: Unsilent Night and it was as amazing as you’d imagine.

If you missed the big show, here is a sneak of Mariah singing her classic holiday hit, “All I Want For Christmas,” below.

VH1 Divas Holiday: Unsilent Night aired December 5 on VH1 and Logo, but you still can catch it On Demand from your cable provider.

‘Moonlight’ Named Best Picture Of 2016 By L.A. Film Critics

From: Queerty
The path of Moonlight has been a great one to watch. At first it was making the rounds in art house theaters, then some smaller venues in big cities, and then its momentum just kept carrying it along until it seemed to be getting buzz from just about everyone. Well, now we’re creeping into awards season, and that buzz has done its job: Moonlight was just named best picture by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.

It’s been a better year for diversity in awards shows than years past; along with Moonlight‘s director Barry Jenkins, numerous other women and people of color won awards. That includes the makers of Certain Women, Toni Erdmann, and The Illinois Parables, all of which had female directors. And I am not Your Negro won best documentary, along with Your Name from Japan for best animated feature.

The LA Film Critics Association awards will all be formally handed out in mid-January, though generally only other other film critics will be aware of them.

Hopefully when we get to the awards show that more people really tune into, Moonlight will have racked up even more attention. It’s really a lovely piece of work, from the performances to the challenging portrayal of masculinity to Janelle Monae’s cannot-look-away command of the screen.

Peter Vaughan, ‘Game of Thrones’ Actor Who Played Maester Aemon, Dies at 93

From: Variety
Peter Vaughan of “Game of Thrones” and British sitcom “Porridge” has died. Vaughan “died peacefully with his family around him” Tuesday morning in England, according to his agent, Sally Long-Innes.

The 93-year-old actor most recently played blind old Maester Aemon Targaryen on the HBO fantasy series, one of the last scions of the ruling family of Westeros who joined the Night’s Watch and protect the realm rather than enmesh himself in political intrigue. Maester Aemon had already met his fate on “Game of Thrones” in Season 5, a serious blow to future Night’s Watch Commander Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Maester-in-training Sam Tarly (John Bradley-West).

Vaughan was born Peter Olm in 1923 in Shropshire, England. He served in World War II in Normandy, Belgium, and the eastern front before embarking on a lengthy career in British TV, coupled with a healthy film resume that included movies for Terry Gilliam (“Time Bandits,” “Brazil”) and the film version of “The Crucible” that starred Daniel Day-Lewis and Winona Ryder, in which he played Giles “More Weight” Corey. He is perhaps best remembered, outside of “Game of Thrones,” for his role as Harry “Grouty” Grout in “Porridge.”

The “Game of Thrones” crew took to Twitter to mourn the loss of the man behind the Maester, including producer Bryan Cogman.

‘Do Straight Guys Eat Bananas the Same Way As Gay Guys?’

From: Towleroad
Comedian Michael Henry’s latest viral-worthy video is a bit of a curve ball.

If you’re a fan of Henry’s sketches you know that they usually entail a gag — a monologue, some repartee, a scene even — about the divide between gay men and straight men in today’ culture. His latest video continues along that track but this time there are no jokes–at least not in the traditional sense.

“Do Straight Guys Eat Bananas The Same Was As Gay Guys” is like a video instillation you might see at a pretentious art gallery if said video and said gallery had a twisted gay sense of humor. It would make a funny replacement, for example, for the opening of Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals.

The narrative and the punchline, for this video are shaped by the video’s ending, which gives a definitive answer to the question in the title.

Watch below to find out what that answer is.
