Here’s How “The Simpsons” Predicted A Trump Presidency 16 Years Ago

From: Queerty
Of all the things The Simpsons could have predicted, why did it have to be this?

On the episode “Bart to the Future,” Bart Simpson sees a grim vision of the year 2030-ish. Among the predictions: “smell you later” will replace “goodbye,” and Bart will be a deadbeat in a band. Also, Lisa Simpson will be president of the United States.

“As you know, we’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump,” she says, and oh God, it hurts.

“Yes, I am proud to be America’s first straight female president,” she adds.

“The country is broke,” Milhouse laments, and once again it hurts, oh God, it hurts.

But maybe there’s a bright side to all this. After all, the episode predicts that Lisa will become president after Trump, so that could work out well. It does seem likely that whatever happens over the next four years will be followed by a some sort of course correction.

So who will the Lisa of 2020 be? Elizabeth Warren? Michelle Obama? Cher? Chelsea Clinton? It’s anyone’s guess. The only thing we can know for sure is that the next four years will be like 2016, only far, far worse.

MAN CANDY: Here’s Carson Aldridge — The Fresh-Faced Twunk of Our Fantasies

From: Cocktails and Cocktalk
Carson Aldridge first caught our eye in a recent shoot with Adon Magazine. Naturally, we delved into his portfolio – and it proves just as impressive. Carson is a model with Factor Chosen Chicago management, and has also appeared in Vulkan magazine. Between the freckles on his nose, to that peachy butt, via them taught abs – we think Alridge will do just fine in the industry. And if not, we’re always on the look-out for a mostly-nude cleaner, *feather duster and pinny provided.

Alridge is the kind of model you’d find in Coitus magazine: all American, boy-next-door, half-naked… All good from where we’re sitting.

Want more of Carson? Don’t worry, we did too…

HB2 Opponent Roy Cooper Claims Victory In North Carolina Governor’s Race

Incumbent Pat McCrory vows to count every vote until the results are official.
From: NewNowNext
Next to the presidential race, North Carolina’s gubernatorial election may be the most watched in the nation: Residents were voting whether to reelect Republican incumbent Pat McCrory, but in a sense the race has been a referendum on HB2, the transphobic measure McCrory signed into law earlier this year.

And while the election is deemed too close to officially call, Democratic challenger Roy Cooper has claimed victory.

Cooper, currently the state’s Attorney General, has vowed to repeal HB2, which both bans trans people from using facilities matching their gender identity and prohibits municipalities from passing LGBT protections.

He and McCrory traded places in the polls all election night, but by early the next morning, Cooper was leading by several thousand votes.

McCrory has vowed to make sure every vote is counted, saying he suspects there are thousands of provisional ballots that haven’t been added to the totals.

“We’ve got to respect the election system,” he said, adding that the final results won’t be known until the official canvas of votes on November 18.

Should Cooper be the ultimate victor, McCrory’s doubling down on the legislation — and the cost to the state in terms of businesses boycotting and negative publicity—will no doubt be considered a factor.

Early exit polls showed that 66% of North Carolinians oppose “bathroom laws” like HB2, compared to 29% who support them.

“Pat McCrory’s historic defeat is a beacon of hope for equality,” said HRC’s Chad Griffin and Equality North Carolina’s Chris Sgro in a joint statement. “Voters said that HB2 and the politics of hate have no place in the state of North Carolina.”

Harry Reads Donald Trump

From: kenneth in the (212)
Harry Reid hits the nail on the head. This isn't a reality show where you had a bad night of drinking and the housemates pretend it never happened the next day, for crying out loud.

The anecdotal evidence that having a leader who thinks it's OK to bully and marginalize people is really starting to add up.

And as I have posted on numerous friends' Facebook pages who are calling for an end to the bitterness and protests, I say this: I know you mean well, but it's far more complex than that. Sure, for some the election result "sucks" and they're merely bummed. But for many of us it is truly the unraveling of a lifetime of work and aspirations. People must realize all of the rights LGBT people have only secured in the past few years -- that allowed me to not feel like a second-class citizen in my own country for the first time in my life -- went on the chopping block overnight. Boom. Just like that. People are hurting and haven't slept in days. I admire people who still have the energy to fight because frankly I'm not sure I have the strength to rebuild, which makes me sad on a whole other level. There was a time when having the pendulum swing from left to right was just a matter of differences of relatively benign policy philosophies. But ever since Republicans have shifted their agenda off the map -- see Overtown window -- the change of power has become a serious threat to our very existence. (Which is to say nothing of other minority groups, several of whom Trump has specifically singled out for persecution.) As a dear friend I would kindly ask that you step outside yourself and find empathy in your heart. This is not people being sore losers. This is people scrambling for their lives.

P.S. It doesn't get much more American than protesting. Have you ever heard of the Boston Tea Party or the civil rights movement?

Gwen Ifill, Renowned Journalist and Author, Dies at 61

From: NBC News
Pioneering television news anchor Gwen Ifill died Monday after a battle with cancer. She was 61.

One of the nation's most prominent black journalists and a longtime newscaster at PBS who previously worked at NBC News, Ifill was in hospice care when she passed away.

"Gwen was a standard bearer for courage, fairness and integrity in an industry going through seismic change," Sara Just, PBS News Hour's executive producer, said in a statement.

"She was a mentor to so many across the industry and her professionalism was respected across the political spectrum. She was a journalist's journalist and set an example for all around her."

Ifill was the host of PBS' Washington Week and co-host of PBS News Hour. She covered seven presidential campaigns and moderated the vice presidential debates in 2004 and 2008. She was also the author of "The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama," which was published on inauguration day 2009.

"Gwen was a friend of ours, she was an extraordinary journalist," President Obama said after offering condolences to Ifill's family and to the reporters gathered at a White House press conference. "I always appreciated Gwen's reporting even when I was at the receiving end of one of her tough interviews."

Obama called her a "powerful role model for young women and girls" who "blazed a trail" for female reporters everywhere.

"Gwen covered politics and the presidential race with class, wisdom and insight, separating her from the pack," Sarah Glover, president of the National Association of Black Journalists, said.

Ifill's death sparked a bipartisan outpouring of condolences from other politicians, ranging from House Majority Leader Paul Ryan to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Donald Trump, whose presidential campaign was marked by a contentious relationship with journalists, posted on his Facebook page: "We are saddened by the passing of Gwen Ifill and extend our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. Gwen was a broadcasting pioneer, shattering barriers throughout her career and blazing a path for future generations following in her considerable footsteps. Her presence and legacy will be felt forever"

Sharon Rockefeller, president and CEO of the flagship public television station WETA in Washington, informed her colleagues of Ifill's death earlier.

"Gwen was an extraordinary and special person — one of the nation's leading lights in journalism, a gracious and inspiring colleague, and a warm and steadfast friend," Rockefeller said in a letter to staffers. "As she bravely battled cancer, Gwen was lifted by the well wishes, flowers and emails from so many who love and respect her."

Born in New York City, Ifill was the daughter of a Methodist minister who moved with her family from church to church up and down the east coast.

After graduating from Simmons College in Boston with a journalism degree, Ifill began her career writing for the Boston Herald-American, jumped to the Baltimore Evening Sun and later the Washington Post. At the New York Times, she covered the White House.

In 2013, when she and Judy Woodruff were named the first even female co-hosts of PBS News Hour, Ifill told the New York Times she hoped that one day this won't be such a big deal.

"When I was a little girl watching programs like this — because that's the kind of nerdy family we were — I would look up and not see anyone who looked like me in any way," she said. "No women. No people of color. I''m very keen about the fact that a little girl now, watching the news, when they see me and Judy sitting side by side, it will occur to them that that's perfectly normal — that it won't seem like any big breakthrough at all."

Gus Kenworthy’s Boyfriend, ‘Gayby’ Actor Matt Wilkas, Is Latest To Bare All

From: Queerty
Gayby actor Matt Wilkas evidently has something in common with boyfriend Gus Kenworthy: they’re both very comfortable in their own skin.

No one who views Wilkas’s pics is likely to complain (unless that person is your boss, so you should probably only view these stills in the privacy of your own indoor gazebo).

George Ortiz Dead: Former 'Project Runway' Hairstylist Dies at 45, Officials Investigating as Suicide

From: Us Weekly
Hairstylist George Ortiz, who appeared on the reality show Project Runway, was found dead in his New York City apartment on Tuesday, November 15, the Associated Press reports. He was 45.

Ortiz’s body was discovered by his roommates in their apartment on Riverside Drive in Hamilton Heights, NYPD Lt. Thomas Antonetti told the Associated Press. Ortiz was last seen alive on Sunday, November 13, Antonetti said.

The New York Daily News reports that the Medical Examiner's office has ruled his death a suicide caused by asphyxia. The AP also confirms that the death is being investigated as a suicide.

The hairstylist appeared in 53 episodes of the Bravo reality show for aspiring fashion designers from 2006 to 2010. Watch him in a scene from the show in the clip below. In a 2010 documentary trailer filmed by Salon Guy, Ortiz explained why he loved his job. “I’ve been very blessed, very lucky, that things happened really quickly for me once I decided — well, not decided, once I discovered my passion for hair,” he said.

Friends and celebrities have already taken to social media to mourn Ortiz. “So sad to hear about George Ortiz from @ProjectRunway,” Teresa Giudice tweeted on Thursday, November 17.

Story is developing.

GETTING OFF IN THE SINGLET

From: Banana Blog
Lately I’m finding myself really being into wrestling singlets. Not necessarily wearing them (although you should definitely try one on because they feel amazing pressed against your body) …but the attraction is to watching guys get off while wearing them.

If you’ve followed the blog for a while it’s pretty obvious that I’m already into college wrestlers. I just wonder how many of those wrestlers have blown loads after the match while still wearing them. I’m going to guess a high number. I mean, all that grinding and groping during matches has to lead to some pretty horny guys later. Gay or not.

SO HAVE I NOW GOT YOU INTERESTED IN A SINGLET? HERE A FEW HOT SINGLET OPTIONS (AND GUYS) FOR YOU TO BROWSE THOUGH!
