A fan showcased this anti-gay sign at a BYU football game and ESPN broadcast it

The homophobic sign proudly raised by a BYU fan got its eight seconds of fame on ESPN.

Sadly this young woman thought it was funny to use a gay slur to mock BYU’s opponent.
Jeff Swinger-USA TODAY Sports
A BYU fan decided to be cute at the team’s home game against Mississippi State last Friday with a sign that mocked the Bulldogs with a gay slur.

“You can’t say Mississippi without saying ‘sissy,’” the sign read.

See what they did there? Genius. They took the “sissi” in Mississippi and used it to say “sissy.” Ha! As we all know, “sissies” are weak and certainly can’t play football! Ha ha ha. Oh, that’s such a good one.

Strange that the “sissies” were able to take the Cougars to double overtime. On the road. It’s shocking, just shocking I tell you, that stadium staff allowed the sign into the stadium.

The sign was, according to the Salt Lake Tribune, broadcast on ESPN for eight to nine seconds.

It’s another black eye for BYU, whose anti-LGBT religion policies barring homosexuality and banishing gay people to a life of chastity have come under more scrutiny as the school was being considered to join Big 12 football (which won’t now be expanding).

Go Cougs!

For ESPN, it’s the second time we know of this season when the network broadcast an anti-LGBT sign. On Sept. 10, GameDay showed a sign in the background that used Caitlyn Jenner to mock an opponent. Virtually no one noticed, which is odd since it went viral placed right next to the now-infamous “mom send beer money” venmo sign that got so much attention.

One fan used Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover
to mock an opponent on GameDay’s Sept. 10 installment.
The sign was overshadowed by a request for beer money.
ESPN’s Keri Potts, who works with GameDay, told Outsports she hadn’t even realized the Jenner sign was on-air. She described a system of sign review that includes hired ESPN staff, local police and security. ESPN stays on top of the latest trends, sometimes Googling words on signs that may elude an older-than-college security crowd. Potts said while they are diligent, they don’t catch every offensive sign.

“I used to see signs that said, essentially, an opposing team's big player pees sitting down, of course trying to insult them by saying they are like a woman,” Potts said. “Those aren’t allowed anymore. We are trying to get better.”

No doubt it’s a tough task for ESPN producers. And if we notice two anti-LGBT signs in a football season, given the creativity with which students design these messages, maybe that’s a good percentage.

Still, we hope the network that continually aired audio of Mexico fans chanting a gay slur during the 2014 World Cup will figure out how to curb more of these

6 Homophobes Standing By Donald Trump Despite That Little Sex Assault Problem

From: Queerty

In light of the long line of women coming forward to dispute Donald Trump’s claim that he never sexually assaulted anyone, Trump lost a lot of support from key political figures, including Sen. John McCain and House Speaker Paul Ryan. But one group is standing shoulder to shoulder with Trump: religious right leaders.

Yes, the family values people have decided that Trump, the seven deadly sins incarnate, is exactly the president this country needs. Even Trump on tape boasting about how he likes to “grab them by the pussy” can’t shake their support. In doing so, they’ve reduced Christianity to an end-justifies-the-means transaction.

Here’s a rundown of six of the worst offenders and how they are justifying their views, along with a reminder of how they like to talk about us.
 1.
Tony Perkins
President of the Family Research Council

What he says about Trump:
“My personal support for Donald Trump has never been based upon shared values, it is based upon shared concerns about issues such as: justices on the Supreme Court that ignore the constitution, America’s continued vulnerability to Islamic terrorists and the systematic attack on religious liberty that we’ve seen in the last 7 1/2 years.”
What he says about us:
“Those who understand the homosexual community – the activists – they’re very aggressive, they’re – everything they accuse us of they are in triplicate. They’re intolerant, they’re hateful, vile, they’re spiteful. …. To me, that is the height of hatred, to be silent when we know there are individuals that are engaged in activity, behavior, and an agenda that will destroy them and our nation.”

 2.
Ralph Reed
Faith and Freedom Coalition President

What he says about Trump:
“I think given the stakes in this election and those and other critical issues, I just don’t think an audiotape of an 11-year-old private conversation with an entertainment talk show host on a tour bus, for which the candidate has apologized profusely, is likely to rank high on the hierarchy of concerns of those faith-based voters.”
What he says about us:
“No one should have special rights or privileges or minority status because of their sexual behavior.  We don’t have it for people who are polygamists; we don’t have it for people who have affairs on their wives or husbands.”

 3.
Jerry Falwell Jr
President, Liberty University

What he says about Trump:
“Donald Trump of five, ten years ago, even two or three years ago may have been a different person. The bigger point is he is going to appoint the right justices to the Supreme Court. He’s going to control immigration. He’s going to bring our country back to a position of strength again. And that is why I’m supporting Donald Trump.”
What he says about us:
“At Thomas Road Baptist Church there will never be a same-sex marriage or any other form of marriage outside of between a man and a woman conducted at this church as long as I am your pastor…We all have a duty and I, as your pastor, have a duty to stand up against sin, to call sin by its right name, to preach against sin, and to call to repentance all of those, including all of us, who are in sin.”

 4.
Franklin Graham
President, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association

What he says about Trump:
“A lot of people are slamming evangelicals for supposedly giving Donald J. Trump a pass. That’s simply not true. No one is giving him a pass. I’m certainly not, and I’ve not met an evangelical yet who condones his language or inexcusable behavior from over a decade ago. However, he has apologized to his wife, his family, and to the American people for this. He has taken full responsibility.”
What he says about us:
“LGBT activists are trying to hook their caboose to the ‘freedom train’ and drag their immoral agenda into our communities by claiming that this is a civil rights issue. Civil rights issues are very real and important—but don’t be fooled, this isn’t one of them.”

 5.
Pat Robertson
Chairman, Christian Broadcasting Network

What he says about Trump:
“Let’s face it. A guy does something 11 years ago, there was a conversation in Hollywood where he’s trying to look like he’s macho. And 11 years after that, they surface it from The Washington Post to whatever, bring it out within 30 days or so of the election and this is supposed to be the death blow…The Donald says no. He’s like the phoenix. They think he’s dead, he’s come back.”
What he says about us:
“Many of those people involved in Adolf Hitler were Satanists. Many were homosexuals. The two things seem to go together.”

6.
Mike Pence
Trump’s running mate

What he says about Trump:
“I don’t condone what was said and I spoke out against it…The other part of my faith is I believe in grace. I’ve received it. I believe in it. I believe in forgiveness, and we are called to forgive as we have been forgiven.”
What he says about us:
“Societal collapse was always brought about following an advent of the deterioration of marriage.”

“Magic Mike” Dancers Give Striptease Tutorial For “Average” Guys

Listen up, men!
From: NewNowNext
Andy Lassner, Emmy Award-winning executive producer of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, learned some sexy new dance moves in a new installment of “Average Andy” today.

Ellen had Channing Tatum and his fellow Magic Mike dancers on the show last month to perform a titillating tease that had the audience howling. “We are still cleaning baby oil off from the furniture,” she joked.

But pulling of their wild moves isn’t as easy as it looks, so the guys came back to break it down for even the most “average” of us.

With the help of the three chiseled babes on hand, Andy learned the famous body roll:

‘Alan Turing Bill’ to Pardon 49,000+ Gay Men Fails in UK Parliament

From: Towleroad
A bill named for WWII codebreaker Alan Turing that would have pardoned more than 49,000 gay men convicted under gross indecency laws has failed in UK parliament after the Government’s Justice Minister Sam Gyimah, who had proposed an alternative bill, spoke until the bill was killed, the BBC reports:

Minister Sam Gyimah spoke for 25 minutes, reaching the time limit allotted for the debate. There were shouts of “shame” and “shameful” from angry MPs as the seconds ticked down and proceedings came to an end.

The alternative bill proposed by Gyimah, an amendment to the Policing and Crimes Bill, would grant similar pardons for those who have died but would make those still alive go through a “disregard process” to receive official pardons.

The BBC adds:

The government said it would not support SNP MP John Nicolson’s Sexual Offences (Pardons) bill – which proposes a blanket pardon for the living – because it could potentially lead to some people being cleared of offences that are still crimes.
But, speaking to the BBC’s Daily Politics, Mr Nicolson said that his priority was to set aside the criminal convictions of men who were still living with them.
He said: “It’s great to forgive all the people who are now dead, but it’s kind of sentimental. I’m more interested in forgiving the people who are still alive, and have lived with this for decades.”

Trump-Supporting Gay Couple Not Scared Of Death Threats Because They Carry Guns

"I love the Second Amendment."
From: From: NewNowNext
A gay couple is receiving backlash and death threats after an interview they did with the Wall Street Journal at a Trump rally in Ohio went viral earlier this month.

Dewey Lainhart and Cody Moore were described as “uneducated” and “rednecks” by viewers of the video, with many believing they are “traitors to the gay community.”

More intense posts compared them to “Jews who support Hitler” and declared that they deserve “two bricks directly into their faces.”

Lainhart and Moore say they were threatened to not come out of the house and warned against going to any gay clubs.

The couple told reporter Jason Bellini that they don’t regret doing the interview, but admitted that it put a damper on the excitement they felt over their recent engagement.

As for the death threats, the Trump supporters aren’t worried.

“It doesn’t concern me,” said Lainhart. “I look over my back, and I do carry [a gun]…because I love the Second Amendment.”

Although receiving death threats because of their political views is an ugly reflection of our current social media culture, most people simply expressed disappointment that gay men would support a campaign that has encouraged bigotry.

A recent poll shows that almost 75% of gay voters will be voting for Clinton on November 8, but there’s still a quarter who seem to think a vote for Trump is not a threat against their rights.

10 Gayish Halloween Movies To Watch This Halloween

From: Queerty
It’s Halloween, the unofficial gay national holiday. All across the country, men and women alike are dressing up in slutty costumes and behaving badly. But in case you’re just not in the mood to wreak havoc in the streets, and would rather stay in and hang out at home, we’ve compiled some Halloween-appropriate movies worth watching (or re-watching).
Hocus Pocus

It’s hard to believe that it’s been been 23 years — 23 years! — since Hocus Pocus first bombed in theaters. Audiences and critics in 1993 just weren’t feeling Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker (pre-Carrie Bradshaw) as the Sanderson Sisters, three Salem-era witches raised from the dead after 300 years only to run amok in the 20th century. Since then, however, it’s gone to to become not only a Halloween caper classic, but a cult favorite among the gays.

“American Crime Story” Season Three Will Focus On Gianni Versace’s Murder

The iconic designer was killed by serial killer Andrew Cunanan in 1997.
From: NewNowNext
FX has renewed American Crime Story for a third season, which will tackle the shocking 1997 murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace by serial killer Andrew Cunanan.

The script will be based on the book Vulgar Favors by Maureen Orth. The Italian-born designer was killed on the steps of his Miami mansion by Cunanan, who killed four others and eventually took his own life as a police manhunt closed in.

Donatella Versace is heavily featured in the story, and producers are reportedly in talks with an A-list actress to play her on the show. (Gianni’s sister was portrayed by Gina Gershon in the 2013 TV movie House of Versace.)

Before that, Crime Story’s second season will focus on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. But executives reportedly loved the Versace/Cunanan script so much that they plan to shoot the second and third seasons simultaneously.

American Crime Story’s first season, The People v. O.J. Simpson, was a critical success, picking up 10 Emmy awards earlier this year.
