It Was Only A Matter Of Time Until Someone Combined Pokémon Go And Grindr

"Catch ’em all, together!"
From: NewNowNext
From the moment it was released, Pokémon Go was compared to the hookup app Grindr — both use your phone’s location to find something you want to catch nearby.

So now, Project Fixup, an offline dating website focused on in-person meetings, has created PokéDates in order to help you find the special someone that you may just want to spend the rest of your life hunting Pokémon with.

Members fill out a questionnaire on their preferences and then PokéDates matches you with a partner based on your availability and answers.

It selects a convenient PokéGym or PokéStop to meet your date and then the hunting begins.

It’s not from the actual makers of Grindr, so you have to share with straight people too, with options to search as a gay or bisexual person available upon setup.

Happy hunting!

From: NewNowNext
Gigi Hadid has landed her first American Vogue cover, and she decided to celebrate by hanging out with the original Supermodel of the World, RuPaul.

In a video for Vogue.com, Gigi hops in Ru’s convertible for a little spin around Los Angeles, and to pick up a few tips from her mentor.

First off, Mama Ru gave some advice on how to avoid the always-present paparazzi.

“You know what the best thing to do for a disguise is those medical masks,” Ru suggested, although Gigi thought that may just create all new problems.

“They’re gonna be like, ’Gigi, deathly ill.’ I’ll be like, ’No, RuPaul just told me I could get away with this,'” the model said.

This, of course, is not the first time we’ve seen the famous duo together.

Gigi was a guest judge on Season 8 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, appearing as a contestant on everybody’s favorite episode of the year — Snatch Game.

Gay Rugby Team, Caitlyn Jenner Appear In New H&M Commercial

"I fought to belong, and for my right to be different."
From: NewNowNext
Friday H&M released a new activewear collection called For Every Victory, along with an inspiring new video narrated by H&M Sport ambassador Caitlyn Jenner.

“I felt like I couldn’t do it alone, or with the entire world watching my every step,” the 1976 Olympic gold decathlon champ says in it.

I fought to belong, and for my right to be different. I felt trapped by my body and by what others expected of me.”

She continues: “I had to find strength within me that I didn’t know I had. I questioned whether it was really worth it, nothing came easy. But nothing truly important ever does. To keep going no matter what the obstacles is, is what victory looks like. Whether you are representing your country, or yourself.”

Jenner added in a statement that she’s “proud to be part of the For Every Victory campaign” because it reminds her of “the strength and bravery of people around the world to be their authentic selves and overcome any obstacles that may come their way.”

Also included in the new campaign are members of the Kings Cross Steelers, the first-ever gay inclusive rugby team.

“For over 20 years, the Steelers have been helping hundreds of gay and bisexual men to build confidence and strength of character through the sport of rugby,” Christopher Kang, a member of the team, told Gay Star News.

“Perhaps due to our history and place in the community, we were approached by H&M about getting involved in a new ad that celebrates sports and diversity. We were honoured to be asked and the guys really enjoyed being a part of it…despite having to spend a cold March day standing around in kit!”

Check out the new ad below, as well as an extended interview with Jenner that covers what she thinks is her “biggest victory of all.”

Favorite Face of the Day: Thomas Kasp

Thomas Kasp
From: Favorite Hunks & Other Things
I can't turn off my light out at night after watching dark or depressing. Nothing heavy, not news, not an HBO drama or anything sad or depressing.  I try when I can to end my night on a sit-com  If I have a choice it's Everybody Loves Raymond, The Middle or Modern Family.

This often means I get repeats, especially from the cable networks that show 2 or 4 episodes a night. This can be annoying, or at times, it can also be comforting.  One of the episodes of Modern Family I have seen several times, is the season 2 episode titled Mother Tucker.   The episode begins with Haley at the dining room table with her studious, and incredible adorable tutor David.

Before the opening credits roll we see that David is not so studious and Haley has flipped the roles, taking over the role of teacher.  Every time I have seen the episode I keep meaning to google the actor who plays David.  He has such a great face and eyes and I love the shape of his jaw and chin.

I finally got on IMDB and found out the actor is 24 year old Thomas Kasp.  Originally from Chicago, Kasp has been living and working in Los Angeles since 2010.   Kasp has been busy since arriving in California with roles in movies and on television with his most well known role in the Christopher Meloni comedy, Surviving Jack.  Kasp's last role was a guest starring role on Shameless, which I look forward to watching when I catch up with the current season.

Eating Disorders Declining For Straight Teens But On The Rise For Gay Youth

A recent study revealed that gay teenage males are five times more likely to use diet pills than straight teens.
From: NewNowNext
A new survey found that although the number of straight teens suffering from eating disorders is on the decline, LGBT teens are purging or taking pills to lose weight at a higher rate.

In a study conducted by the University of BC, which surveyed kids in the U.S. between the ages of 12 and 18 from 1999 to 2013, data revealed that gay males are five times more likely to use diet pills than their straight counterparts.

It also revealed that one-third of bisexual girls reported purging, which stayed about the same from ’99 to ’13, but that the rate increased for lesbians over that same time period, and decreased from 8% to 5% for straight girls.

Ryan Watson, the lead author of the study, was alarmed by the results and thinks that the healthy eating programs used to help straight teens are not reaching LGBT youth in the same way.

“I’d want parents, schools and clinicians to know there are these big disparities for this population,” Watson said. “We need to know it’s more nuanced than just LGB people have higher rates of disordered eating, but you need to consider the nuanced factor and see that lesbians and bisexuals actually may need to be approached differently.”

Democratic Convention Will Include An Openly Transgender Speaker For First Time In History

Sarah McBride is the National Press Secretary of the Human Rights Campaign's Foundation.
From: NewNowNext
A list of celebrities that will speak at this week’s Democratic National Convention was announced over the weekend, but it’s the addition of the convention’s first out transgender speaker that will truly make history.

Sarah McBride is the National Press Secretary of the Human Rights Campaign’s Foundation, and she will join the organization’s president, Chad Griffin, in speaking on the final day of the week-long event.

McBride is a volunteer for the committee Trans United for Hillary, a political group throwing their support behind the Democratic presumptive nominee.

“People must understand that even as we face daily harassment, tragic violence and an onslaught of anti-LGBTQ political attacks across the country, we are real people merely seeking to be treated with the dignity and respect every person deserves,” McBride said. “I’m so proud to stand with the LGBT Caucus and speak out in support of Hillary Clinton, because we know she stands with us.”

Griffin also released a statement, stressing the importance of McBride’s involvement.

“Sarah’s inclusion in Thursday’s program is a significant milestone for our community, and it sends a strong message that transgender people and their voices matter,” he said.

McBride and Griffin are scheduled to speak on July 28, the closing day of the Democratic National Convention.

Brian Sims Slams Trump/Pence’s Anti-LGBTQ Nonsense In Epic Takedown

From: Queerty
Beloved congressional bear Brian Sims has NO PATIENCE for the garbage coming out of Mike Pence’s mouth, and he’s letting the world know in no uncertain terms. In a fabulous op-ed for Philly Magazine, Sims launched into Pence, tearing him to shreds for his terrible policies.

“The most extreme pick for vice president in a generation,” Sims calls him, and it only gets better from there. Sims points out that Pence’s “no gays allowed” bill cost the state at least $60 million (some estimates put it at $250 million) by alienating businesses all over the world. “Welcome to the Trump-Pence GOP, which continues this divisiveness,” he says.

There are plenty of direct threats posed by Trump and Pence–even though Trump claims to be a “friend” to the gays, he’s anything but. He’s opposed to gay marriage; he’s said that he’d repeal Obama’s nondiscrimination orders; and the last time he said anything positive about LGBT rights was 2000.

And Pence has made a career out of hurting LGBT families, either by protecting straight-segregated lunch counters or by palling around with ex-gay advocates or by opposing repeal of DADT.

And what’s worse, Sims says, is that they’re fostering a climate of hatred and division, even when they’re not talking about queers. Trump’s anti semitic dog-whistles are one example; his proposal to ban Muslims is another; and Pence’s disinterest in hate crime protection is yet a third. Says Sims:

With all of the hatred swirling, it is even more imperative that we elect a president that will fight for our community and equality for all. Here in Philadelphia, we’ll be supporting a candidate for president that will fight for every community. Hillary Clinton is the fighter we need.
He’s right, of course. Hillary may not be as perfect — and nobody is — but she’s the only person running for president who has a shot at actually improving the lives of LGBTs.

What Makes “Rebel Without A Cause” Such A Gay Classic?

"Hey, you want to come home with me? I mean, there's nobody home at my house, and heck, I'm not tired."
From: NewNowNext
When it was released in 1955, Nicholas Ray’s Rebel Without a Cause wasn’t just a defining depiction of teen angst in post-war America, it was a instant gay classic.

Critics call the relationship between James Dean’s rebellious Jim Stark and Sal Mineo’s lonely Plato the first to depict gay desire in a mainstream Hollywood film. As Judy, Natalie Wood played one of filmdom’s first fag hags

Of course, it was mostly under the radar—unconscious even. The Motion Picture Production Code was still in effect, banning over depictions of LGBT themes.

But do you know many straight teens who have photos of Alan Ladd in their lockers? Or tell their hunky best friend they love them?
Below, the hosts of Logo’s Cocktails and Classics decode the film’s many gay elements.

Conservatives Saying “Yas Queen” Is All You Need To See Today

Make America gay again!
From: NewNowNext
Seriously.TV correspondent Dylan Marron was on the ground at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland this week, where he was getting conservatives excited about politics and, more importantly, asking them to express it with a “yaas, queen!”

Marron says he’s doing it “in the spirit of cultural appropriation,” you know, because gays coined the term — not Lady Gaga fans or Broad City.

“Make America Great Again?” Marron asks a suited woman.

“Yas queen!” she yells.

Gays make everything better.

Ellen Page and Allison Janney Have A Mother Of A Problem In @TallulahMovie Trailer

"She's dead. Or asleep. It's either dead or asleep."
From: NewNowNext
When Talullah “Lu” (Page) stumbles upon a baby being raised by an irresponsible mother, she takes the baby and runs to the only other adult she knows: her ex-boyfriend’s estranged mom, Margo (Janney), who believes the kid is her granddaughter.

This is the premise of indie-drama Talullah, which follows Lu and Margo as they navigate their awkward feelings toward each other while trying to raise the child.

The film debuted at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival this past January and was later acquired by Netflix, who will premiere the movie on July 29.

In anticipation of the release, the streaming service released a clip of the movie Thursday. In it, a panicked Lu runs to Margo in the middle of the night to tell her that she thinks the baby’s dead.

Hilarious tension ensues.

In addition to Page and Janney, the film also stars Zachary Quinto, John Benjamin Hickey and Uzo Aduba.

Bishop Accused Of Covering Up Child Abuse, Leading Secret Gay Life, Says He’s Victim Of The Gay Agenda

Archbishop John Nienstedt claims the charges against him are "due to my unwavering... opposition to so-called same sex marriage."
From: NewNowNext
A Catholic archbishop stands accused of leading a clandestine gay life and of helping to cover up another priest’s abuse of children.

Court documents released on Wednesday point to Bishop John Nienstedt, the former archbishop of Minneapolis-St Paul, being influenced by his personal relationship with Father Curtis Wehmeyer to turn a blind eye to claims Wehmeyer molested young boys.

There were also concerns that misconduct by Nienstedt himself affected his judgment.

One priest claimed Nienstedt propositioned him while they were staying overnight at a rectory in Michigan. The unnamed cleric declared, “I know when I’m being hit on.”

Another priest said the bishop “began massaging his neck” while he was driving.

At one point, Nienstedt assigned an outside law firm, Greene Espel, to investigate the claims of sex and sexual harassment against him.

Attorneys took affidavits from 11 credible witnesses who recounted “sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, and reprisals in response to the rejection of unwelcome advances.” (They also claim they had at least two dozen more leads to pursue.)

Several witnesses claimed Nienstedt was well-known for leading a “promiscuous gay lifestyle” in both Detroit and abroad. (More than one claimed Nienstedt had a sexual relationship with a Swiss guard.)

Nienstedt admitted he received anonymous letters referencing alleged trips to a gay strip club across the Detroit River in Canada. The letters called on him to resign and come out.

He admitted he had been “dogged” by gay rumors for years but insists they were false charges made by priests with an axe to grind.

“I am a heterosexual man who has been celibate my entire life,” Nienstedt claimed in a statement.

“I have never solicited sex [or] improperly touched anyone, and have not used my authority to cover up, or even try to cover up, any allegation of sexual abuse.”

Nienstedt claims he did not know about Wehmeyer’s improprieties, about the criminal conviction of Rev. Gilbert Gustafson for molesting a 10-year-old boy, or that Rev. Kenneth LaVan—accused of sexual assaulting at least one teenage girl in the ’80s—was still in the ministry.

The report however, suggests he was aware of these circumstances much earlier.

In December 2013, police investigated a claim that Nienstedt touched a boy on the buttocks, which he insists was “absolutely and entirely false.”

All the allegations against him, he says, are simply payback for his opposition to marriage equality.

“I believe that the allegations have been made as a personal attack against me due to my unwavering stance on issues consistent with Catholic Church teaching, such as opposition to so-called same-sex marriage.”

In 2012, Nienstedt used more than $600,000 of church money to support Amendment 1, which would have banned same-sex marriage in the Minnesota. (Voters rejected the measure by just five percentage points.)

“Each time I have spoken out I have received hundreds of threatening, insulting, and sometimes frightening letters, emails and phone calls.”

Wow, he’s practically been crucified.

Nienstedt insists he never told anyone about the threats because “I didn’t want to speak poorly about the men making the allegations.”

“It is a matter of public record that they do not agree with the Church’s teachings on homosexuality, and I have consistently taken a stand with the Church on those issues.”

In 2014, Nienstedt ordered a music director at a church in Victoria, Minnesota, to resign after he married his longtime partner.

While Jamie Moore (right) was not a priest, Nienstedt insisted “church employees must recognize and accept the responsibilities that accompany their ministry.”

As far as covering up any abuse, Nienstedt only admits “I should have asked more questions [and] I should have demanded more answers.”

Father Daniel Griffith, the diocese’s Delegate for Safe Environment, raised issue with Nienstedt’s closeness with Wehmeyer and says Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, the Vatican’s former ambassador to the United States, ordered him to destroy evidence against Nienstedt. (Viganò served as Pope Francis’ representative until he retired in April.)

“What has unfolded in the face of compelling evidence amounts to a good old fashioned cover-up to preserve power and avoid scandal and accountability,” said Griffith in a scathing 11-page report.

Wehmeyer (left) eventually pleaded guilty in 2012 to possessing child pornography and molesting two boys in Minnesota and one in Wisconsin.

When prosecutors announced in June 2015 that they were bringing criminal charges against the archdiocese for failing to protect children from sexual abuse, Nienstedt resigned. (He insisted, however, he was leaving “with a clear conscience, knowing that my team and I have put in place solid protocols to ensure the protection of minors and vulnerable adults.”)

Those charges were dropped in exchange for the archdiocese’s admission it failed to protect the three minors, as part of a civil settlement by the victims and their families. Nienstedt remains an archbishop in good standing and recently lead a Mass in California.

In 2013, a judge in Ramsey County ordered the archdiocese to release the names of all the priests with credible allegations of child sexual abuse against them.

In all, 33 priests were named.

Archbishop Bernard A. Hebda, who replaced Nienstedt last year, admitted on Wednesday that “words alone are not enough—we must do better.”
