“West Side Story,” “Footloose,” “Blue Man Group” Boycott North Carolina Over Anti-LGBT Law

The creative community continues to strike out against HB2.
From: NewNowNext
The creative community continues to take a stand against anti-LGBT legislation: First Stephen Schwartz, composer of Wicked, Godspell and Pippin, banned productions of his shows in Mississippi and North Carolina because of anti-LGBT laws there.

Now the rights-holders for West Side Story and Footloose have followed suit, withdrawing permission for their musicals to be performed in those states.

“In light of the recent passage in your states of heinous and discriminatory laws that severely curtails the rights of many minorities, the creators of Footloose are suspending the issuance of any license to present or produce their work until such time as the legislature and governor reverse their decision,” The Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization, who owns the rights to Footloose, said in a statement.

“The authors of Footloose hope for the quick repeal of these bills (HB 2 in North Carolina; Religious Freedom Bill 01:42 in Mississippi), at which time you will be able to request perusal materials and license the show.”

Last week Cirque du Soleil canceled engagements in Greensboro, Charlotte and Raleigh because of North Carolina’s religious freedom law.

“Cirque du Soleil believes in equality for all. It is a principle that guides us with both our employees and our customers,” the group said. “We behave as change agents to reach our ultimate goal of making a better world with our actions and our productions.”

Earlier in the week, representatives for Blue Man Group said they, too, would be boycotting North Carolina because of HB2.

At the heart of every Blue Man Group performance is a joyful celebration of all human kind including our commonalities and our differences. We value every individual’s right to live a dignified, vibrant life in full color. As such, we are joining the growing list of entertainment professionals in protest of North Carolina’s HB2 law by canceling our upcoming tour performances in Charlotte.
We regret any disappointment this may cause our fans, but look forward to performing for you in the future.

Pretty soon all that’s going to be left is Chuck E. Cheese’s.

“Star Wars” Gets A Gay Twist In Hilarious Short, “The Outer Rim”

General Leia has found herself in another tough predicament.
From: NewNowNext
The Star Wars franchise gets a super-gay face lift in a new fan-made short called The Outer Rim.

The video, created by comedians Ryan Steele and Amy Goodmurphy, follows General Leia into The Outer Rim bar “for a drink to help her forget all her problems” after the events of Episode VII.

It’s a place where the music is great, the drinks are strong, and oh yeah, Darth Maul is the bartender:

Seems like she’s looking for the company of a man, but The Outer Rim isn’t really that kind of bar, if you catch our drift.

STUDY: Masturbating More Can Save Your Life

Come again?
From: NewNowNext
Despite what nuns and football coaches would want you to believe, masturbation is actually good for you. Aside from being a great stress reliever, self-pleasure has distinct health benefits.

A study published in European Urology followed 30,000 men for nearly 20 years and found that that men who ejaculated more often had lower incidents of prostate cancer than those who got off less often.

Specifically, men who ejaculated at least 21 times a month in their 20s were 19% less likely to be diagnosed than men who ejaculated no more than seven times a month. Even in their 40s, men who flogged the bishop regularly were 22% less likely to get prostate cancer.

“Ejaculation frequency is, to some extent, a measure of overall health status in that men at the very low end of ejaculation – 0 to 3 times per month – were more likely to have other (medical problems) and die prematurely from causes other than prostate cancer,” lead author Jennifer Rider told the AP.

Rider says their data suggests “ejaculation and safe sexual activity throughout adulthood could be a beneficial strategy for reducing the risk of prostate cancer.”

Here’s highlights from their findings:

* 192 cases of prostate cancer occurred among men who ejaculated just three times a month.

* 1,041 cases occurred among men who ejaculated 4 to 7 times a month

* 1,509 cases occurred among men who ejaculated 8 to 12 times a month

* 807 cases occurred among men who ejaculated 12 to 20 times a month

* 290 cases occurred among men who ejaculated at least 21 times a month

Prostate cancer is a major health issue worldwide—accounting for 15% of all new cancer diagnoses. And while you can’t alter a family history of the disease, you can make some lifestyle changes to lower your risk.

So get polishing!

A Shameless Discussion About Sex

From: Favorite Hunks & Other Things
'That was one of the requirements. They said if you don't have a huge ball sack, you should call your agent as you don't even have to go out for this audition.'

Most of were first introduced to actor Steve Howey as the sweet, but dim witted Van Montgomery on Reba. Today, as Kevin Ball on Shameless we were introduced to many other sides of talented and multi-faceted actor. We often hear about the casting couch for actresses, but on the season 1 DVD's of Shameless, Howey, along with Justin Chatwin and company, discuss the ins and outs of filming their famous nude scenes.

In 'A Shameless Discussion about Sex', I loved Chatwin's account of the director who wasn't happy with how his cock sock looked, so he had him remove it. It is also interesting to hear Howey talk about his famous frontal in the show's pilot.

Although Howey doesn't exactly say it directly, he certainly implies, showing the full Howey was part of the deal in order to get the role.  He didn't share what the audition process was like, but his slow role over in the first episode seems like a fairly memorable first week at work.

Below:  A minute from the DVD featurette:

'The negotiation that I had was....none. Because they said on the very first day, 'We are going to shoot this certain angle, and like are you cool with that? It wasn't like you're going to be nude, walking down the hallway. It's that you roll over with your legs exposed, and it was like, there was no negotiation, you're either gonna do it or your not.'

Instagrams that Inspire

I first started following performer, actor and model Huntley Woods on social media back in 2009. After seeing a shot of Huntley in a sailor hat on his Model Mayhem page, I was baited, then hooked.
Huntley is a performer through and through and in his modeling and acting work has a incredible chameleon quality, changing both his look, and the feel of his presentation.  Huntley does this mostly through his facial expressions and the degree of intensity in his eyes.  He pulls out both masculine and feminine qualities with equal fierceness, both engaging and incredibly hot!

If you follow Huntley on Instagram your in for a ride. Be prepared for costumes, props, role play, tons of selfies in addition to professional modeling shots. You'll also meet a ton of his friends who often show as much skin as Huntley.

With all of the science fiction costumes, I can't help but always think Huntley would make a perfect character on The Big Bang Theory.  The only problem would be that Leonard and Shelton would bore Huntley silly and you would most likely find him downing wine along with Penny and Bernadette.

98 Degrees Refuses to Perform in North Carolina Over Anti-LGBT Law HB2

Boy Band Announces Decision to Refuse to Play in Charlotte and Raleigh
From: The New Civil Rights Movement
98 Degrees will not play in North Carolina, the '90s boy band that is touring cross country said today, a result of HB2. Their My2K Tour, which features other artists as well, will play 33 concerts, but "made the difficult decision on behalf of the entire tour to not move forward with two of our planned shows in Charlotte and Raleigh," they said in a statement.

"As a band we get no greater satisfaction than when we're performing for our fans across the country," the band said. "Above all else we support equality and fair treatment for all. We hope our fans in North Carolina understand the decision."

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, 98 Degrees members Nick and Drew Lachey, Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre shared their decision.

"Like many other artists, we don't appreciate discrimination so we decided we should take a stand and that's that. Hopefully our fans there will understand, and hopefully they will also contact their state legislator," Jeffre said.

This cancelation is just one in a long line of boycotts of North Carolina, all in response to Gov. Pat McCrory's anti-LGBT law HB2. Many artists have announced they will not play n the state, including Blue Man Group, Pearl Jam, Boston, Ringo Starr, Cirque du Soleil, and Bruce Springsteen, among others.
