The 100 Greatest Lost Hits of The 80’s Part 2: The New Batch

“Tenderness”
General Public
When I was compiling this second Lost Hits list, there was a list of songs I knew I couldn’t use, no matter how badly they fared on the chart. It includes such songs as The Romantics’ “What I Like About You,” (#49 on the Hot 100), Modern English’s “I Melt With You” (#78) and Yello’s “Oh Yeah” (#51). They were all chart failures, but they’ve all become such iconic, well known ’80s songs, I couldn’t include them in a “Lost” list. Hey, maybe a possible future list?
“Tenderness” was almost on that list, but not quite, so I decided it deserved a spotlight. Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger hit the top 40 just once in the ’80s, taking “Tenderness” to #27 in February 1985. They would hit the top 40 once more a decade later with a remake of ’I’ll Take You There.”

The 40 Hottest Male Bodies Of 2015!
From: Boy Culture
“Pull-ups Guy” Christian Cabrera
Thanks to Anti-Twink, we were all banned from Facebook every time we tried to share the above 2013 boner-pullup video of pull-ups guy Christian Cabrera. Anti-Twink has also thoughtfully posted Cabrera's nudes, including an oral-sex shot that will outrage strict vegans.
More of him here.
Cabrera's best videos are from 2013, but he still looks good—see inset photo from his Facebook—and since he went viral in 2015, no list of best bodies (including below the waist) would be complete without him.

1961
Victim is a 1961 British suspense film directed by Basil Dearden, starring Dirk Bogarde and Sylvia Syms. It is notable in film history for being the first English language film to use the word "homosexual". The world premiere was at the Odeon Cinema in Leicester Square on 31 August 1961. On its release in the United Kingdom it proved highly controversial to the British Board of Film Censors, and in the U.S. it was refused a seal of approval from the American Motion Picture Production Code.

Prom Night
Disco Death! Five young schoolkids taunt a fellow classmate to death (that falling pane of glass was just … overkill, literally), and years later at the senior prom, someone … exacts revenge! Jamie Lee Curtis has said this was her least favorite slasher film, but it’s one of my favorites. But I can’t quite figure out why. The photography is shockingly muddy (we’re talking Lucille Ball in Mame), and the characters are either forgettable or unlikable (I found myself rooting for Classic Bitch Wendy to get away, simply because she was the most interesting character in the film).
But there’s something compelling about watching these snotty kids get their comeuppance, and the ending is undeniably sad (if inevitable). And then there’s the fabulous soundtrack, which does contain THE #1 GREATEST 80′S HORROR MOVIE CLOSING THEME SONG. It’s called “Fade To Black,” performed by Gordene Simpson, and it reveals the entire plot of the movie in a classic power ballad. It’s been a permanent part of my iPod for years.
5 Trans Activists Who Transformed The World

Renée Richards
In 1976, Richards was primed to play in the women’s division in the U.S. Open, until organizers realized she had been born male. The United States Tennis Association attempted to ban her from the Open, citing a women-born-women policy.
Richards filed suit and, in a landmark verdict, the New York Supreme Court ruled in her favor. Despite the victory, Richards endured public scrutiny, the loss of family and friends, and brutal discrimination from the tennis world.
“It didn’t stop the WTA from trying to Richards her from pro tournaments until she sued, or 25 of the 32 women in the field from withdrawing from the first tournament she played,” ESPN writes. “Crowds rooted against her. If Richards turned on a TV at the time, she could’ve found Johnny Carson and Bob Hope snickering on The Tonight Show that Richards was her own “mixed doubles team.”
Eventually Richards left tennis and returned to a successful ophthalmology practice in California. But her very public battle blazed a trail for future trans athletes like MMA fighter Fallon Fox and NCAA basketball player Kye Allums.

Mr. Smithers’ Coming Out Was Inspired By “Simpsons” Writer’s Son
‘What better way to tell my son I love him than to write a cartoon about it?’" says writer Rob LaZebnik.
From: NewNowNext
From: NewNowNext
Sunday, on The Simpsons, Mr. Smithers will finally—and officially—come out as gay after 27 years (barely) in the closet.
Rob LaZebnik, a longtime Simpsons scribe, says he was inspired to write the episode by his son, Johnny, who is gay.
“I am a Midwestern guy, so I don’t tend to wear my emotions on my sleeve, but I thought, ’What better way to tell my son I love him than to write a cartoon about it?'” LaZebnik told the New York Post.
Johnny says he appreciates the gesture, but has always known he’s had his dad’s support.
“The revelation that my father loves me is not much of a revelation, thankfully. He’s unbelievably accepting,” says the 21-year-old college student. “We’re as close as a straight dad and a gay son could be.”
Johnny, who had input on the script, says “I was really happy that someone who has experience with a gay person in their immediate family was writing the script.”
It’s not the first time he’s given pointers to his dad, either.
“He once sent me an e-mail, and the header was just ‘How does Grindr work?’ ” Johnny says. “I screenshotted and Instagrammed it and sent it to all my gay friends because it made me laugh so much.”
