History's Hottest Movie Actors

Richard Gere
1949—

Helped along by some spur-of-the-moment photos snapped by his good buddy Herb Ritts, Gere became the archetypal movie stud of the late '70s and '80s. He was so fine and his body so routinely on display on the (not) big (enough) screen that jokes abounded about an ass-baring scene being a contractual obligation in every movie he made. If only! He's got a great one. Also, small eyes and a big dick is a winning combination. Gere's lethal good looks made Looking for Mr. Goodbar a point of obsession for many young people seeing it and American Gigolo sold them on the superstar status of his apparatus, but over time, his acting abilities overshadowed his appealingly graying good looks. Who would have dreamed he'd be in the running for an Oscar nomination in 2012 while watching him strictly for his bod in An Officer and a Gentleman?

The Best, Crassest Thing You'll Watch All Day: Seth Rogen's Sausage Party Trailer

From:  PASTE
SXSW is home to many weird and wonderful premieres. But Seth Rogen’s new computer-animated comedy Sausage Party may just take the cake for weirdest and wonderful-est. The “work-in-progress” version of the film was screened last night to already-glowing reviews, some people comparing it to South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut in terms of its potential status as a legendary R-rated animated film. Those of us who weren’t there will just have to settle for the unbelievable trailer, above.

The film, which has been in the works for eight years, stars much of Rogen’s regular cast—Rogen himself, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Kristen Wiig, Danny McBride, etc.—and revolves around sentient food in the grocery store, most of which dreams about being “chosen.” Of course, being “chosen” means certain death at the hands of a human, but they don’t know that. Our news editor Jim Vorel is frighteningly reminded of the 2012 Charlie Sheen film Foodfight, but we’d expect that Sausage Party will be far, far better. It’s currently slated for an August theatrical release, but good luck waiting five more months to see this.

#20
The Thing

There are two John Carpenter films in the top 20, and up first is one of the great remakes of all time. As I've mentioned before, I love horror that takes place in claustrophobic quarters, and an isolated arctic outpost is the perfect setting for paranoia and growing fear. The gross-out effects are still bad ass thirty years later, and are so much effective than the CGI used in the toothless “prequel.”

“Goldmine”
The Pointer Sisters

The sisters had a huge couple of years in the mid-80’s, but it started to slow down by the time their overlooked album Hot Together was released in late ’86. The first single, the dance pop nugget “Goldmine,” would only reach #33 in November, and would sadly be their final top 40 entry.

The 40 Hottest Male Bodies Of 2015!

From: Boy Culture

That body just ain't normal.
 Matt Bomer

When Matt Bomer was first on White Collar (2009—2014), an image circulated of him kissing a boyfriend. I posted it and got an earful from a pal of his, who claimed Matt was not in the closet so posting the image was redundant. It kicked off an argument about what constitutes being out when you're a public figure, the type of argument still being had today (note my Colton Haynes post). The pal clammed up, though, probably once he realized that just because Bomer was not hiding his involvement with future husband Simon Halls (with whom he now has three children), that wasn't the same thing as acknowledging to a low-level gay blogger (or any media) that he was actually gay. When the media is disallowed from reporting on your significant other, you're not out.

Bomer eventually did come out, and did so with grace and without the kind of bitterness that clouded Jodie Foster's begrudging acknowledgment. He also, arguably, has not become “that gay actor,” as many proponents of the professional closet warn will happen to leading men who are on-the-record gay—he has shaken his moneymaker in the Magic Mike movies and enjoyed five years on White Collar, convincingly playing straight. (Here he is filming it on my block in 2013.) He is set to appear in a remake of The Magnificent Seven (2016).

Magic Matt
But not being typecast as gay doesn't mean a gay actor should turn down gay roles, and Bomer illustrated that beautifully with a heartbreakingly honest performance in the otherwise disappointing TV adaptation of Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart (2014); it's a scandal that he did not win an Emmy for work he will have a hard time topping.

This is a list of hot bodies, and he certainly earns inclusion for obvious reasons, just as he would earn inclusion on any list of flawless faces. He also seems to be a prime example of  a beautiful person who happens to look the part.

Noah, much like other biblical figures, is from somewhere in ancient Middle East. That means it's unlikely that he was so fair-skinned.

Actor's Background
Russell Crowe was born in New Zealand and is of mixed-European descent. He wasn't the only whitewashed character in the film, fellow cast members included Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins and Emma Watson.

“Highway To Hell”
AC/DC

Released just a couple of months before the death of lead singer Bon Scott, “Highway To Hell” would mark the first entry on the Hot 100 for the iconic Australian band, and even though it only reached #47 in December 1979, it has become one of the all-time rock classics, heard in countless movies and TV shows. That riff will live forever.
