Drool intentions

#89
Ryan Phillippe
(1974—)
This blond bad boy with the succulent lips livened up numerous forgettable '90s flicks, but struck gold with the beloved, bad-to-the-bone Cruel Intentions. He's always had an omnisexual quality on-screen and, at times, a Warholian blankness that served him well in the otherwise execrable 54. Still in tip-top shape, he's ripe for a re-invention.

Michigan Senate Passes Bill Making Anal Sex Punishable By 15 Years In Prison

The measure was snuck into a bill banning animal abuse.
From:  NewNowNext

The Michigan Senate just passed a bill that makes sodomy a felony, despite the U.S. Supreme Court declaring such a law unconstitutional.

The state’s law, which makes anal sex punishable by up to 15 years in prison, is not specifically targeted at gay people, as it’s illegal regardless of whether a couple is same-sex or different-sex.

Instead, the sodomy ban is directly linked to a law against bestiality, essentially saying the two are equal.

The law states that it is a felony for anyone to commit “the abominable and detestable crime against nature with mankind or with any animal.”

It’s the “with mankind” wording that creates the loophole to keep the sodomy ban intact, even though the 2003 ruling in Lawrence v. Texas declared it unconstitutional.

Now that the bill has passed through the Senate, it is headed to the House for approval, which means there is still time to change the wording and keep “mankind” out of it entirely.

But GOP Senator Rick Jones says an attempt like that could put the entire bill, created to protect animals, in jeopardy.

“The minute I cross that line and I start talking about the other stuff, I won’t even get another hearing. It’ll be done,” said Jones. “Nobody wants to touch it. I would rather not even bring up the topic, because I know what would happen. You’d get both sides screaming and you end up with a big fight that’s not needed because it’s unconstitutional.”

Jones believes that the sodomy ban can only be repealed if a bill is created to strike all unconstitutional laws from the state’s books, but he is not willing to do it at the expense of his dog bill.

“If we could put a bill in that said anything that’s unconstitutional be removed from the legal books of Michigan, that’s probably something I could vote for,” he said. “But am I going to mess up this dog bill that everybody wants? No.”

A Sinner in Mecca

Here, we enter the city of Mecca that has been forbidden to non-Muslims for 14 centuries. For gay filmmaker Parvez Sharma, filming in Saudi Arabia presents two serious challenges — filming is forbidden in the country and homosexuality is punishable by death. He ends up documenting his journey on nothing more than an iPhone and two smuggled, tiny cameras. On these never-before-filmed streets of ancient Mecca, he joins 4 million Muslims, from the majority, peace-loving pilgrims fulfilling a lifelong calling, to brutal jihadists for whom violence is a creed. They have all entered Mecca for the world’s largest pilgrimage: the Hajj. Sharma yearns to find his own place within an Islam he has always known, an Islam that bears no resemblance to the bastardized versions creating havoc around the Muslim world.

Janet Mock

Born in Honolulu, Mock moved to New York after college and received her M.A. in journalism from NYU.

She began writing for numerous magazines, and came out as trans in a 2011 Marie Claire article "I Was Born A Boy”–a title Mock was not happy with.

“I was born in what doctors proclaim is a boy’s body,” she said. “I had no choice in the assignment of my sex at birth… My genital reconstructive surgery did not make me a girl. I was always a girl.”

In addition to speaking engagements, Mock also hosts a weekly pop culture talk show on MSNBC, So Popular!, and is a contributing editor at Marie Claire. She penned her memoir, Redefining Realness: My Path to Womanhood, Identity, Love & So Much More in 2014.

Fireworks (1947) _ Kenneth Anger

Fireworks (1947) is a homoerotic experimental film by Kenneth Anger. Filmed in his parents' home in Beverly Hills, California over a long weekend while they were away, the film stars Anger and explicitly explores themes of homosexuality and sado-masochism. It is the earliest of his works to survive.

Anger synopsizes the film thus: "A dissatisfied dreamer awakes, goes out in the night seeking a 'light' and is drawn through the needle's eye. A dream of a dream, he returns to bed less empty than before." Adding later, "This flick is all I have to say about being seventeen, the United States Navy, American Christmas, and the Fourth of July."

Anger was arrested on obscenity charges following the release of Fireworks. In 1958, a lawsuit was brought against the manager Raymond Rohauer of L.A.'s Coronet Theatre for screening Fireworks. The case became "an epic obscenity trial" in the California Supreme Court which declared the film to be art.

Hard to "Get Over" him

#90
Nick Scotti
(1966—)
This tragically underused multi-hyphenate was sweetly funny in Kiss Me, Guido, a gay comedy that received a major release at a time when LGBT movies were making in the millions instead of the tens of thousands at the box office. As appealing as he was, he barely got a chance to make another impact in the movies, instead falling back on his modeling, his Madonna-approved singing career and a short-lived reality series that capitalized on his New Yawk roots. Movie experience aside, we're talkin' about hotness here, and he's always had that to burn.

February 7th is Super Bowl 50

Super Bowl 50 is an American football game that will determine the champion of the National Football League (NFL) for the 2015 season. The game will be held on February 7, 2016 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, between the National Football Conference (NFC) champion Carolina Panthers and the American Football Conference (AFC) champion Denver Broncos.

The Panthers finished the regular season with a 15–1 record, defeating the Arizona Cardinals 49–15 in the NFC Championship Game and advancing to their second Super Bowl appearance since the founding of the franchise in 1995. The Broncos finished the regular season with a 12–4 record, and denied the New England Patriots a chance to defend their title from Super Bowl XLIX by defeating them 20–18 in the AFC Championship Game, and joined the Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, and Pittsburgh Steelers as one of four teams that have made eight appearances in the Super Bowl.

The game is the 50th edition of the Super Bowl, first played in 1967 in anticipation of the 1970 merger of the American Football League and the NFL; the league emphasized the "golden anniversary" of the game throughout the season with various gold-themed initiatives (including the adoption of gold-tinted logos across all NFL properties), as well as temporarily suspending the tradition of naming each Super Bowl game with Roman numerals (under which the game would have been known as "Super Bowl L"), so that the logo could prominently feature the Arabic numerals of 50. In addition to the Vince Lombardi Trophy, the winner of Super Bowl 50 will also receive a special 18-karat gold-plated "50" trophy.
