The Young Rebels is an American adventure series that was broadcast by ABC as part of its 1970 fall lineup on Sunday night at 7:00 p.m Eastern time.

The Young Rebels was the story of a group of youthful guerrillas fighting on the Patriot side in the American Revolutionary War. They were part of the fictional "Yankee Doodle Society", based in Chester, Pennsylvania, in 1777. Their goal was to harass the British forces however they could and serve as spies for the rebels. The four main characters were Jeremy (Richard Ely), son of the mayor of Chester, Isak (Louis Gossett, Jr.), a former slave, Henry (Alex Henteloff), a bright young, bespectacled man who looked a lot (by design) like a younger Benjamin Franklin, whom he greatly admired, and Elizabeth (Hillary Thompson), Jeremy's even-younger girlfriend. Any parallel between this "youth movement" and the one going on in the United States in real life at the same time that this show was aired was completely intentional. Aiding these young American rebels in their cause was a young French rebel, the Marquis de Lafayette (Philippe Forquet), who had come to their aid not just because he believed in their cause but also to learn how to export many of its principles to his native France.
During the early 1970s, there were only three commercial television networks in the United States. The Young Rebels was up against the very popular family shows Lassie and Walt Disney World on the other networks. Rick Ely and Philippe Forquet became teenage idols and were widely featured in movie and fan magazines. Despite extensive promotion and a large (by television standards of the era) production budget, The Young Rebels failed to garner enough of an audience and was canceled at midseason.

Yeah, the body is amazing, yeah he is super talented, but he also has a grin to die for!

James Read in North & South

From: Favorite Hunks & Other Things
In the first two books of the series, most of the male skin came from Patrick Swayze (Orry Main). By Book III however, Swayze was gone so James, and new co-star Kyle Chandler were able to remove their uniforms for a scene or two.

 Familiar Faces
From: Favorite Hunks & Other Things
There's a familiar face in Salem. Not a new face really, his character was introduced earlier this year. I haven't been a regular watcher of NBC's Days Of Our Lives lately, but I was sure I knew that face while watching the character of Clyde Weston on a recent viewing.

He's a little older, but I have always been a fan of actor James read. Talented and engaging and well, that incredible face. Those twinkling eyes, that great hair and that smile which melts. Read has been a regular fixture on TV and in movies since I can remember. Starting in the Eighties on Remington Steele and continuing in with regular roles on Shell Game, Charmed, American Dreams and on screen in Eight Men Out and Beaches to name just a couple of his big screen roles.

Most of us remember Read however from his role of George Hazzard in each of the three North & South mini series installment. Read went on to marry his North & South co-star Wendy Kilbourne. In real life, Read is the father of three. On Days Of Our Lives, he is the father of Ben, (Robert Scott Wilson) and for many of us, James is the epitome of a DILF.

In Praise of Tony Ward

From: Favorite Hunks & Other Things
I have always liked Madonna, but I have never really LOVED her like many. I respect her more than actually admired her music. That being said, while looking for just the right picture for her birthday post, I was taken to many photos of her with someone I used to spend a lot of time fantasizing about, Tony Ward.

I remember a young Tony Ward from the late 80's and early 90's ahead of his time. So stunningly beautiful with that body, hair and face. Tony was doing what many actors and models do all the time today. Not only his willingness to be naked, but his openness to bucking sexual stereotypes and blatantly doing projects and photo shoots which would attract gay fans. It is common today for models and actors to openly go after a gay audience, but in the past it was done quietly, but Tony was ahead of his time with his pictures, movies (Hustler White) just his bravery in bucking the norm to do exactly what he wanted to do. I guess that is why he calls himself the anti-model.

I truly admire Tony Ward. Although we all get older, Tony has gotten a bit rougher with age, with the added tats. He is still hot to me, but I do love looking back at his early photos. Anyone else love his nose??? (I am wierd...) It appears Tony concentrates on his photography and art these days, but he still pops up in magazine spreads. Tony is truly a pioneer and icon of male beauty.
Tony has a GREAT web site with an amazing history of his life as a model (anti model). If your a fan, check it out, it is truly worth the look!
