Thomas - The Guy Site

Getting Hairier
Thomas has been letting his body hair grow, and, I think it's looks good and is going to look great when it's all grown out.

Remember how nervous Thomas seemed in his first shoot? He was much more at home this time around. That's strange, considering he brought a woman he knows to watch! So here's the first taping with a live audience at TheGuySite.

AussieBum’s Founder Dishes On The Perfect Skivvies And Which Celebs He Wants In His Underwear

From: Queerty
Sean Ashby
Nobody takes their skivvies as seriously as gay men. They can be playful, tasteful, scandalous, sexy or cute. Hell, there are entire parties where the dress code limits you to your briefs, and they’re the last tease before getting intimately acquainted with a new partner.
So it makes sense that we pay close attention to what’s connected to our elastic waistbands. Cut, material, color, prints, support — these are all important factors when finding the perfect pair to complement your assets.
And while there are a million brands on the market, some have risen to the top, proving that all undies are not created equally. aussieBum is among the best of the best.
Queerty chatted briefly with aussieBum founder Sean Ashby about his company that has found a home in so many of our dresser drawers.

What defines the ideal aussieBum guy?

He’s someone who recognizes his own values as a person and isn't afraid to stick by them. He’s fun and doesn't take life too seriously. He has an adventurous spirit with a passion for wide open spaces and summer time exploration. His confidence and self-belief are clear through his strong physique and mentality.

Which celebs would you most like to see in your underwear?

I think it’s hard to align the brand with any one celebrity, but…if I had to mention a few I would love to see in my product on, Bradley Cooper is great. He’s a handsome, confident and talented guy who has a real effortless charm that fits aussieBum perfectly. U.K. diver Tom Daley would be another one; young, successful, fun and the courage he showed recently in coming out was great to see and I think a real inspiration and motivator for young adults. Hugh Jackman is another one for me, he is an Aussie, of course, and in peak physical shape which he works hard to maintain.

How has your target audience changed since you launched aussieBum in 2001?

As the typical male stereotype has matured globally, the aussieBum brand has kept up using innovation and pushing the boundaries of what is expected or considered acceptable, we like being creative in our product story lines whilst not being stereotyped by feeling we have to conform. We do realize though that many still hold true to their original ideas on what is sexy and what they like to wear, some of our audience has also matured and changed and enjoyed coming on the journey with us over the years. Nowadays we release new products on a weekly basis from statement color block underwear to technically advanced swimming trunks to sports inspired leisurewear. To make sure we are still producing relevant, on trend product that speaks to all of our aussieBum customers, I make a point to our customers that they can talk to myself directly.

Since Summer is upon us, any tips on finding the perfect individual swimwear style?

One of our main statements is “if you doubt yourself, wear something else” so the most important thing is for you to feel happy and confident and love the style you are in. Generally it’s always good for fair skin people to go with the darker colors and darker skin types to lean towards lighter colors, complementing your skin tone is important which is why we like to provide a huge variety in products. If you want to fit into current style and trends, choose a shape that’s more body contouring like our Handlebar products which have shape enhancing lines in the design. Today there are no real set rules anymore. It really is about self-expression and choosing what a person looks great in is a very personal choice as they will be the ones everyone will be staring at if they get it just right. When in doubt, you can never lose with square cuts like our League, Freshhh or new A-Game styles. If you've got it, then flaunt it with a looser pouch finish – it’s really about which style makes you feel great. For me it’s all about mix and match. Have fun with it and once you realize your best cut and color’s that suit you, push your own boundaries!

What do you want people to know about aussieBum that they might not already?

I want people to know I started my company with the prime objective to pay my rent on time and to allow myself to spend the afternoons at the beach. I never thought aussieBum would become what it is today worldwide. I came up with the name ‘aussieBum’ because I’m an Aussie and I used to be a beach bum. After 14 years I have had my ups and downs and what has always driven me is the incredible loyalty and love of the brand by the people who wear it with such pride.
It’s also important for me that people know we never forget where we come from, and we are never afraid to show our support for same sex marriage and equal rights for all, we support a variety of events and movements, some behind the scenes and sometimes at the forefront. If I ever had to choose where my loyalties lie, it is and always will be with my culture, the gay community worldwide. I wouldn't be where I am today without them and I am proud they still buy my products and act as real brand ambassadors for aussieBum.

Chris - The Guy Site

It took a long time to convince Chris to model for The Guy Site. He finally agreed, but, only "if his straightness is made clear." Of course here we never discriminate against straight men!

Chris is a power lifter, currently in training for a competition. In a few short months, he puts on about 30 pounds of muscle. Right now, he's about a third of the way there. I think he looks great now, especially with the natural body hair. Also, I'll of course get him back when he reaches his peak

Remember These Foods of the Seventies???

Space Food Sticks

Space Food Sticks are snacks created for the Pillsbury Company in the late 1960s by the company's chief food technologist, Howard Bauman. Bauman was instrumental later in establishing the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points regulations used for food safety.

Bauman and his team were instrumental in creating the first solid food consumed by a NASA astronaut: small food cubes eaten by Scott Carpenter on board Aurora 7 in 1962. (John Glenn had consumed the fruit-flavored drink Tang in space three months earlier aboard the Friendship 7.) Space food cubes were followed by other space-friendly foods created by Pillsbury's food engineers, such as non-crumbly cake, relish that could be served in slices, and meat that needed no refrigeration.

In 1970, Pillsbury filed for a trademark for a "non-frozen balance energy snack in rod form containing nutritionally balanced amounts of carbohydrate, fat and protein" which they dubbed "Space Food Sticks". No basis for use of the term "nutritionally balanced" was provided.

A forerunner of energy bars, Space Food Sticks were promoted by Pillsbury for their association with NASA's efforts to create safe, healthy and nutritional space food. In 1972, astronauts on board Skylab 3 ate modified versions of Space Food Sticks to test their "gastrointestinal compatibility".

Capitalizing on the popularity of the Apollo space missions, Pillsbury marketed Space Food Sticks as a "nutritionally balanced between meal snack". Fourteen individually packaged sticks were included in a box, and came in six flavors such as peanut butter, caramel, and chocolate.

Space Food Sticks disappeared from North American supermarket shelves in the 1980s. They were revived by Retrofuture Products, of Port Washington, NY in 2006. Two flavors, chocolate and peanut butter, were released. They are being sold at flight museums such as the Kennedy Space Center and the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum as well as online.

In Australia, Space Food Sticks have remained continuously in production since their introduction, but in fewer flavor varieties than the American versions (chocolate and caramel only). They are marketed under the Nestlé Starz brand to modern-day Australian children as an energy food.

Space Food Sticks have shown up in popular culture including animated TV series The Simpsons, the books of R.L. Stine, and the film Super 8. They are frequently cited as the favorite snack of Olympic gold medal winner Australian swimmer Ian Thorpe.

Shia LaBoeuf and the Jordan Almond Defense

From: kenneth in the (212)
Move over, Twinkies: there's a new legal defense in town. I'm on Team Shia, thanks to this source from inside Studio 54:
Shia LaBoeuf was slapping the shit out of people at Cabaret not because he's pulling a Charlie Sheen, but because they were crunching on Jordan almonds during the performance. True story -- my friend Steve from TX is visiting NYC and was in the audience when it happened. #misophonia
I write about my battle with misophonia in my book and have this to say about Shia's behavior: If the Jordan almonds allegation is true, I think he showed great restraint!

Bottom line: Stop crunching in public and no one will get hurt.

18 Percent Of Grindr Users Are Still In The Closet, Six Percent Will Never Come Out

From: Queerty
Grindr has become a legendary meeting spot for the headless torsos of the world in the five short years since its launch in 2009, but did you know that almost a quarter of those headless torsos are still hiding in the closet? Of that 18 percent, six percent say they never plan to come out at all.

The shocking (or not shocking at all?) statistics were released by Grindr this week. In the spirit of Pride season, the company polled a sample of its 1.4 million daily users to find out how many were out of the closet, why those who are out decided to come out, and who were the first people they shared the big news with.

Among some of the most noticeable trends in the report, millennials are coming out in their younger teen years, most initial “coming outs” happen among friends versus family, a large majority of workers are still hesitant about coming out in the workplace, and those folks in the closet refuse to come out mostly because they fear discrimination. Most disturbingly, 53 percent of respondents have had sex with females in their lives.

Echelon breaks it down beautifully:

When asked the age Grindr users decided to come out of the closet, users in their thirties and forties came out in their twenties (44 percent and 32 percent, respectively). However, 50 percent of users in their twenties came out when they were still teenagers, showing the growing progression and acceptance of LGBT youth. With more than 5 million active monthly users worldwide, Grindr has become a resource for men even before they come out. The survey revealed that nearly a third of respondents were using Grindr before they came out.
Grindr’s survey also put to test the saying that blood is thicker than water. Apparently not in regards to coming out – 72 percent of respondents said the first person they told was a friend, while only 22 percent told a family member first.
When it comes to how out Grindr users are, a large majority (96 percent) came out to friends and 81 percent have come out to family, but only 68 percent have come out at work.
So, why did Grindr users decide to come out of the closet? Sixty-one percent said it was time for them to be true to themselves. This is refreshing, considering 12 percent of respondents were out-ed by someone. Grindr conducted the survey on June 16, 2014 and more than 3,000 users responded; other interesting findings from the survey include:
More than half of respondents – 53 percent – have had a sexual encounter with a woman.
Seventy-five percent had their first gay sexual experience when they were teenagers.
Over a third – 36 percent – have had less than 10 sexual partners.

Seems like Grindr may also be a great place for gay Christians.

Big Guy
Jon is a man of few words. When I ask him to introduce himself in his movie, he says: "Hi, I'm Jon. I'm a big guy." As it turns out, he's big in more ways than one. In addition to his big muscular body, he has a big dick too.

The shoot with Jon went exceptionally well on a day when other models showed up either two hours late or not at all.

Jon showed up early, seemed to be very proud of his body, and he's a friendly guy t'boot.

Gay Teen Suicide More Likely After Religious Counseling

A new study shows that gay youth who are counseled by a religious leader were more likely to attempt suicide than those who sought no treatment at all.

Gay Star News reports that The Williams Institute has found that while youth who received therapy from a medical professional fared about the same as those who talked to no one at all, those who sought help from religious leaders were found to have a higher risk of suicide.

"The findings are troubling because seeking treatment is a recommended suicide prevention strategy and this study results show no more positive effect for people who sought treatment," said co-author Ilan Meyer, a senior scholar of public policy at the institute that released the study, "The Role of Help-Seeking in Preventing Suicide Attempts Among Lesbians, Gay Men, and Bisexuals."

June 29th ~ July 29th is Ramadan

Ramadan (Arabic: رمضان‎ Ramaḍān, IPA: [rɑmɑˈdˤɑːn];[variations] Persian: رَمَضان‎ Ramazān; Urdu: رَمْضان‎ Ramzān; Turkish: Ramazan; Indonesian: Puasa) is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar; Muslims worldwide observe this as a month of fasting. This annual observance is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The month lasts 29–30 days based on the visual sightings of the crescent moon, according to numerous biographical accounts compiled in the hadiths. The word Ramadan comes from the Arabic root ramiḍa or ar-ramaḍ, which means scorching heat or dryness. Fasting is fard ("obligatory") for adult Muslims, except those who are ill, traveling, pregnant, breastfeeding, diabetic or going through menstrual bleeding. Fasting the month of Ramadan was made obligatory (wājib) during the month of Sha'aban, in the second year after the Muslims migrated from Mecca to Medina.

While fasting from dawn until sunset, Muslims refrain from consuming food, drinking liquids, smoking, and engaging in sexual relations; in some interpretations they also refrain from swearing. Food and drink is served daily, before sunrise and after sunset. According to Islam, the thawab (rewards) of fasting are many, but in this month they are believed to be multiplied Fasting for Muslims during Ramadan typically includes the increased offering of salat (prayers) and recitation of the Quran.

June 29th ~ July 27th is Tammuz ( תמוז‎ )

Tammuz (Hebrew: תמוז‎, Standard Tammuz Tiberian Tammûz) is the tenth month of the civil year and the fourth month of the ecclesiastical year on the Hebrew calendar. It is a summer month of 29 days, which occurs on the Gregorian calendar around June-July.

The name of the month was adopted from the Assyrian-Babylonian calendar, in which the month was named after one of the main Mesopotamian gods, Tammuz. This is referred to in Ezekiel 8:14. Tammuz is also a month in the modern Assyrian calendar of the ethnic Assyrian Christians.

17 Tammuz is a fast day from 1 hour before sunrise to sundown in remembrance of Jerusalem's walls being breached. 17 Tammuz is the beginning of The Three Weeks, in which Jews follow similar customs as the ones followed during the Omer from the day following Passover until the culmination of the mourning for the death of the students of Rabbi Akiva (Akibah) the thirty-third day of the Omer - such as refraining from marriage and haircuts. The Three Weeks culminate with Tisha Be-Av (9th of Av).

Ashkenazi communities refrain from wine and meat from the beginning of the month of Av, while Sefardi communities only do so from the beginning of the week in which the 9th of Av occurs. The mourning continues until noon on the 10th of Av, the date on which the Second Temple's destruction was complete.
