Foody legend Adam Richman will be showing us his ball skills by playing in Soccer Aid this Sunday ( June 8), and to celebrate he's only gone and got his kit off in this month's Cosmo. Yep, the man who became a household name for nailing giant pizzas in minutes for his TV show Man v. Food is now in mighty fine shape after losing 70 pounds (five stone). Adam told Cosmo, "To go from hating the way I looked to being a Cosmo centerfold is a profound honor. If you're a guy who's always been the fun-to-be-around teddy bear, then all of a sudden people are viewing you as sexy it's nice." 

 

And underneath that newly honed chest of his is a golden heart too. Instead of a double cheeseburger it's the charity double as he's not only raising money for UNICEF in Soccer Aid this weekend, he has stripped for Cosmo to raise awareness of the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle to protect yourself against cancer for Cancer Research UK.

 

This Sunday he will play alongside Sam Worthington and Gordon Ramsay in 'The rest of the World' side playing against the England team which includes Dominic Cooper and Olly Murs. "Taking part in Socceraid was a big motivation to stay fit. I actually cried when I was asked to take part. If I was still 200lb-(14 stone) plus, people would have said, 'Maybe you can be a mascot, but I don’t think you can play.' Now, I do intense workouts involving plyometrics, intense running, ball skills drills - I barely have enough energy to get into the shower at the end of the day!" Cheer Adam on this Sunday from 6pm on ITV1 on and see his full naked centerfold shoot in this month's Cosmo out now.

 Dreamboat Marine-turned-underwear model Alex Minsky is appearing on the cover of Rebel Ink magazine this month for a feature that shows just how sexy “non-traditional” bodies can be.

 As you know, Minsky sustained serious brain injuries and had to have his right leg partially amputated in 2010 after his vehicle ran over an IED while serving in Afghanistan. He was later discovered by a photographer at his local gym and was thrust into fame as an underwear model, posing in campaigns for several different companies including Jack Adams.

 Minsky has previously explained that he began getting tattoos during rehabilitation because they served as his inspiration. “When I struggle, I need something, and I find inspiration from other things,” he tells Rebel Ink. “I’m glad people are finding inspiration from other things, and if it’s my picture, then that’s a good thing.”

"We chose Carrie Jewell Dugo and Alex Minsky as our cover models to show the world two tattooed individuals who exemplify courage and used tattoos for their own healing process,” said Rebel Ink Editor-in-Chief Paul Gambino. “We hope it opens the eyes of others to the world of tattoos and how this form of personal expression is an art form like others to be admired…and inspire others.”

Andrew Ference, NHL Oilers Captain, Marching In Edmonton Pride

Andrew Ference, captain of the Edmonton Oilers hockey team, will march in the Edmonton Pride paradeon Saturday. Supporting the LGBT community, he says, is “kind of a no-brainer.”

Also marching in the parade, which heads down 100th St. past Sir Winston Churchill Square, is Jen Scrivens, wife of Oilers goalie Ben Scrivens, and Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson.

“Making sure that [LGBT] youth know they have allies at the pro level, or whether it’s a teammate who might be thinking about coming out, or whatever it is, we want to make sure that it’s an accepting environment for everyone,” Ference said Tuesday. “I know most of my teammates and guys around the league line up with the same kind of belief.”

Ference, 35, is the first member of the Oilers to participate in Edmonton Pride, but the NHL has been at the forefront of pro-sports leagues championing LGBT inclusion: Jason Garrison and Manny Malhotra marched in Vancouve Pride when they were both in the Canucks, and retired Canadiens forward Georges Laraque joined the Montreal parade.

Calgary Flames president Brian Burke has participated in Toronto Pride in memory of his late son, Brendan, who died in a car crash months after coming out. Brendan’s older brother, Patrick, launched You Can Play, a campaign dedicated to welcoming people of all orientations into sports.

“I think for most [players], especially with You Can Play, [participating in Pride] not a big step for us,” Ference said. “It’s not sticking our nose out to support something that is really out there. It would be rare to find someone that doesn’t support it among our group of players.”

Atlanta Man Jumps to His Death After Partner Dies

Friends and family are mourning the loss of a man from Atlanta who tragically jumped to his death Monday after his long-term partner died in their home, the British newspaper the Daily Mail reports.

Mark Rhea Castleberry, 55, took his own life by driving over an overpass on his morning commute. He left a note behind in his car that told authorities where to find the body of his partner, Gregory Woodlief, 66, who passed away following a longtime illness.

Woodlief’s body was found in the couple’s Chamblee, Georgia, home. The men wore matching rings and Castleberry, who once worked for the Miss Atlanta Scholarship Pageant, placed his on his partner’s body before leaving Monday morning.

Mark's sister told the media, "My brother pretty much lost his mind and leapt," she told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "He didn’t want to be in a world that Greg wasn't." Full story here via Edge!

Cheyenne Jackson Stars In “Dragula,” Which Focuses On Emotional Dysfunction And Self-Esteem Issues

I wish I could have met Dragula (not the Rob Zombie song) in high school.

The short film starring Cheyenne Jackson, Bobby Bostwick and Missy Pyle is described as such:

“A high school senior who overcomes his emotional dysfunction and self-esteem issues when he unwittingly meets Dragula.”

What could go wrong there? He descends into the underworld of drag culture and we’re only assuming finds himself in the process.

It’s being screened as part of the Lower East Side Film Festivals “gay night” on Friday, June 13th in New York, and the evening looks like it has much to offer.

Rooftop pool party at 60 LES, drag for dayz and and an open bar.

It’s the perfect opportunity to feel cultured while partying your ass off. High brow meets low brow meets high brow, seeing as another advertised draw is “most likely some shirtless men.”

But it’s a film festival, so it’s classy, right?

 When a huge black bear wandered into a residential area in Alligator Point, Florida, wildlife officers knew they had to trap and remove him from the neighborhood. But after they hit the bear with a tranquilizer, things started going horribly wrong...

The dart sent the bear into a panic and he ran towards the ocean, evading officers.

 As he swam further and further out into the Gulf, he became drowsy and started to drown. That's when Adam Warwick, a biologist with the Wildlife Commission, knew he had to act.

Onlookers were shocked as Adam swam in and blocked him from advancing.

 "It was a spur of the moment decision. I had a lot of adrenaline pumping when I saw the bear in the water." He forgot that the 7 foot beast could tear him apart with his claws. The bear tried lunging at Adam to climb on top of him and stay afloat, but he was losing the ability to move his legs. The biologist had to act fast.

He stayed calm and grabbed the bear by the scruff of the neck.

 Everyone held their breath as Adam dragged the nearly-400-pound bear twenty-five yards to land. The bear was having trouble keeping its head above water, but Adam never gave up.

After what seemed like an eternity, Adam made his way out of the water with the groggy bear.

He suffered only one scratch from the bear and a cut foot from the barnacles. 

The team was able to use a tractor bucket to transport the poor guy back to his home in Osceola National 

I don't think he'll be going anywhere near large bodies of water for a long, long time.

This incredible man risked his life to save a dangerous animals when no one dared to act. He's not only a legendary human being, but also a hero to one lucky bear.

Lucky Charms Releases Pro-Gay Pride Message

We sort of suspected that a cereal that comes with rainbow marshmallows would be pro-gay, and now our suspicions are confirmed.  Lucky Charms has released a pro-gay ad just in time for June’s Gay Pride festivities.  Filled with banjo-plucking twee, it’s hard to fault the breakfast confection for being too sugary.  That being said, we need to schedule a dentist appointment: this commercial is giving us cavities.

As part of the #luckytobe campaign, Lucky Charms is asking consumers to share their saccharine sentiments on social media.

Conspicuously absent from anywhere in the General Mills ad is the word “gay”.  Also missing is any sign of actual homosexual affection.  Guess every box of Lucky Charms this June comes with a grain of salt.

Nonetheless, the commercial is already being celebrated by GLAAD’s vice president of communications and programs, Rich Ferraro, who said in a statement:

Lucky Charms has always been known as a family brand and it’s only natural that they have chosen to celebrate all families. This campaign is another sign that advertising is on its way out of the closet, with companies finding that it’s a smart business decision to stand with LGBT people and the majority of Americans who support our community.

Pay Attention! If you’re ever asked the trivia question “What was the first song snicks ever performed at karoake?” you’ll have the answer. It was “Harden My Heart” by Quarterflash. Originally known as Seafood Mama, the Portland, Oregon band released a demo of their most famous song, and after it was picked up by radio stations in the northwest, they were signed to Geffen records, changed their name, and released a new version of “Harden My Heart.” The song peaked at #3 in February 1982, and helped their debut album hit the top ten and reach platinum status. Their follow-up “Find Another Fool” did well, also, peaking at #16, and the 1983 “Take Me To Heart” (#14) is the 29th Greatest Lost Hit Of The 80′s. But “Harden My Heart” is still a complete blast over thirty years later, with Rindy Ross doing double duty with vocals and saxophone.

Ghost Story (later retitled Circle of Fear) is an American television anthology series that aired for one season on NBC from 1972 to 1973. Executive-produced by William Castle, Ghost Story initially featured supernatural entities such as ghosts, vampires, and witches. By mid-season, low ratings led to a title change and a shift—for the most part—away from paranormal themes.

Ghost Story was hosted by Sebastian Cabot as Winston Essex, the owner of a mysterious hotel named Mansfield House. Cabot's introductions were filmed in the Hotel del Coronado near San Diego, California. A pilot episode aired in March 1972 as one half of a NBC Friday night double feature; the series premiered in September. Ghost Story dealt exclusively with ghosts, vampires, witches, and other supernatural elements. The show's format and tone drew comparisons to NBC's Night Gallery and ABC's The Sixth Sense. Schindler's List is a 1993 American epic historical drama film directed and co-produced by Steven Spielberg and scripted by Steven Zaillian. It is based on the novel Schindler's Ark by Thomas Keneally, an Australian novelist. The film is based on the life of Oskar Schindler, a German businessman who saved the lives of more than a thousand mostly Polish-Jewish refugees during the Holocaust by employing them in his factories. It stars Liam Neeson as Schindler, Ralph Fiennes as Schutzstaffel (SS) officer Amon Goeth, and Ben Kingsley as Schindler's Jewish accountant Itzhak Stern.

Ideas for a film about the Schindlerjuden (Schindler Jews) were proposed as early as 1963. Poldek Pfefferberg, one of the Schindlerjuden, made it his life's mission to tell the story of Schindler. Spielberg became interested in the story when executive Sid Sheinberg sent him a book review of Schindler's Ark. Universal Studios bought the rights to the novel, but Spielberg, unsure if he was ready to make a film about the Holocaust, tried to pass the project to several other directors before finally deciding to direct the film himself.

Principal photography took place in Kraków, Poland, over the course of 72 days in 1993. Spielberg shot the film in black and white and approached it as a documentary. Cinematographer Janusz Kamiński wanted to give the film a sense of timelessness. John Williams composed the score, and violinist Itzhak Perlman performs the film's main theme.

Schindler's List premiered on November 30, 1993, in Washington, D.C. and it was released on December 15, 1993, in the United States. Regarded as one of the greatest films ever made, it was also a box office success, earning $321.2 million worldwide on a $22 million budget ($35.9 million in 2014 dollars). It was the recipient of seven Academy Awards (out of twelve nominations), including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original Score, as well as numerous other awards (including seven BAFTAs and three Golden Globes). In 2007, the American Film Institute ranked the film 8th on its list of the 100 best American films of all time. The Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry in 2004.

Dancing Equals Life in New ’80s Period Drama “Test”

Co-stars Scott Marlowe and Matthew Risch give a pair of excellent performances in Chris Mason Johnson’s new 1985 period piece drama, Test. Set against the backdrop of the AIDS crisis in San Francisco, the film is unique in that it isn’t about activism or gay men dying. In fact, it’s about dancing. This is not The Normal Heart — there are no deathbed scenes, but rather an authentic sense of vulnerability and anxiety as young dancer Frankie (Marlowe) navigates his life. Think Dancing = Life vs. Silence = Death. Of course the film’s title evokes the early days of HIV testing but it also points toward the film’s central coming of age theme as Frankie faces the trials of homophobia and effeminophobia in the modern dance world. As Frankie rehearses, his dance company director warns him, “Dance like a man!” When butch fellow dancer Todd (Risch) comes to his aid the two young men form a friendship and more. The film’s impressive choreography beautifully supplements the story, and the period soundtrack completes the film’s spot-on mid-’80s atmosphere with hits from Laurie Anderson, Bronski Beat, Cocteau Twins and Sylvester. Earning almost universal raves on the film festival circuit Test is currently rocking a very nice 89 percent RottenTomatoes.com rating.

Look for the film in theaters in San Francisco (June 6th), New York and Los Angeles (June 13th) and other cities in the coming weeks. It’s out today on digital nationwide (and coming to DVD June 17th).

Sidney Lumet (“Twelve Angry Men,” “Network”) was a bizarre choice to direct this version of “The Wizard of Oz,” though it happened to be an urban update, with grit, sass and one-liners (based on the Broadway hit). The problem is, while New York City is certainly magical, it’s not quite up there with Oz and having 34-year-old Diana Ross play Dorothy was one of the weirdest casting gaffes since George Hamilton tried to be Moss Hart in “Act One.” Crying and shaking throughout, Diana seemed like a developmentally challenged adult who’d never left the house and who probably shouldn’t have. But Michael Jackson is good as the Scarecrow.
