Cover Model Brandon:

Photoshoot & Interview
From:  Fur and Gold
 Hometown: Georgia, Vermont
Profession: Almost Nurse
Hobbies: Playing music, writing/watching horror movies, photography, camping, weight training, record shopping
Favorite Album:Different Section Wires” by Uzeda
Favorite Song: This question is too complicated, depends on my day
Favorite Artist: My Bloody Valentine to Sonic Youth, there are too many

F&G: How does it feel being a cover model for F&G? Have you ever modeled before?
Brandon: I love any excuse to dress up and/or get bloody, especially when it involves a photo shoot. My favorite photographer’s works are generally un-candid and contain surreal scenes and images- Sarah Sitkin, Joel-Peter Witkin, Cindy Sherman, etc. It’s also especially nice when the shoot is for a friend and representing something that I respect and support such as F&G. Sean is an excellent artist and it’s flattering to be a part of his work. I have modeled one other time for a House of Cach jewelry shoot in Headmaster magazine portraying Jesus. So to answer the question, it feels awesome.
F&G: So you love horror. What about it do you enjoy? You like dressing up?
Brandon: Not really sure why I love it, ever since i was a kid I was interested in scary stories, folklore, mythology, cryptozoology and urban legends and most horror draws from these stories and myths. I also loved (and still do) Halloween. Its awesome to see an entire country ritually decorate their yards and houses for a day dedicated to being scared. Once you really get into a genre of something you love seeing how people can add their visions and interpretations, so I’m always interested to see new directors and writers doing something innovative and new with horror. (It rarely happens but it’s exciting when it does.) Dressing up is just fun! I do a lot with latex and making gross wounds and lacerations. I’m not a huge fan of zombie movies but I love doing zombie makeup and making it as gross and realistic as possible.

F&G: You are one of Providence cover models, what about Providence do you love? What keeps you there?
Brandon: Providence is an interesting city, it has a decent music/art scene with really friendly and dedicated people. I love that it has a good amount going on but maintains a small town mentality. What keeps me here is being close to my family and I have met a lot of amazing people. It’s also affordable and close to big cities, New York City, Boston, Montreal and also close to amazing places to camp up in Maine and New Hampshire.
F&G: What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Brandon: Animallover, Terribledancer, Constantlybusy

F&G: Tell us a little secret about yourself that someone might not know!
Brandon: I sing Stevie Wonder songs to my cats while I brush them, which is followed by giving them catnip and watching them have Vietnam flashback-like episodes all over the house.

F&G: What type of sexy man Halloween costume do you want to see?
Brandon: Anything involving very little clothing and a lot of blood.

F&G: How does music fit into your every day life?
Brandon: It’s everything I do. I play in 2 bands, Tinsel Teeth and Ulmus. I listen to and study it any opportunity I get. My CD/record collection is huge, cataloged and alphabetized. I am constantly making and giving out mixes to people to expose bands, I am the biggest non-pretentious music nerd you will ever meet.

F&G: What songs are blowing up your play lists these past few months?
Brandon: Not so much single songs but some whole albums have been getting a lot of action…
No Joy- “Wait To Pleasure”
Chelsea Wolfe- “Pain Is Beauty”
Nails- “Abandon All Life”
Cellular Chaos- “self titled”
Normal Love- “Survival Tricks”
The Swans- “The Seer”
Tamaryn- “Tender New Signs
The Oh Sees- “Floating Coffin”
Todd- “Purity Pledge”
Business Lady- “Torture Footage”
Danny Brown- “XXX”
Ulcerate- “Vermis”
Subrosa- “More Constant Than The Gods
Trans Am- “Thing”
White Suns- “Waking In the Resevoir”
Loma Prieta-”I.V”
Retox- “Ugly Animals”

And of course “Body Party” by my girl Ciara

F&G: How did you find out about F&G?
Brandon: Through friends

F&G: What about F&G makes you keep coming back for more?
Brandon: Good music, great people, it is one of the most judgement free dance nights out there. I feel most bars/clubs are really cliquey and you there is a lot of judging going on and trash talking, especially in the gay community; there is too much emphasis on social status, “looks”, body types, clothing and many other superficial agendas that run rampant at these places/events. Not giving people the opportunity to be themselves and dedicating your night to making fun of people is such a low form of intelligence and existence. I have always felt welcome at F&G, everyone is really friendly and is there to have fun which is what going out should be about.
