Anti-LGBT Activist Steve Hotze: Gays Are Eating Away America’s Moral Fabric Like Termites

From: Towleroad
Speaking at an anti-LGBT conference in Houston over the weekend, hate group leader Steve Hotze compared gays to termites and said the “homosexual political movement” is eating away at the foundation of the country.

Hotze serves president of the Conservative Republicans of Texas, considered an anti-LGBT hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Last year, Hotze bankrolled the campaign to repeal Houston’s Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO).

Hotze made his latest bigoted remarks during the Stand4Truth conference, a gathering of prominent anti-LGBT activists and “ex-gay” therapists that promised to reveal “the politically incorrect truth about sexuality and gender.”

According to a clip of Hotze’s speech posted by Right Wing Watch, he said “the homosexual movement” has “infiltrated” American society.

“Think of them like termites,” he said. “They get into the wood of the house and they eat away at the very moral fabric of the foundation of our country.”

Hotze went on to compare the LGBT movement to Marxism and falsely allege that it’s illegal in some parts of the country to speak against homosexuality, Right Wing Watch reports.

During the anti-HERO campaign, Hotze wielded a sword on stage at an anti-gay rally and pledged to drive “homofascists” out of Houston and back to San Francisco.

Hotze has also recently likened gays to murderers and compared same-sex marriage to the Holocaust. In the wake of the Obergefell v. Hodges decision, he called Supreme Court justicies “lousy bastards” who “hate God” and “want to let Sodomites queer our country.” And he said the decision would lead to teachers encouraging kindergarteners to try anal sex.

Adorable Couple of 50 Years Stars in Ad for Pat McCrory’s Opponent

From: Towleroad
The Human Rights Campaign has released a new campaign ad for North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper featuring an adorable lesbian couple that have been together for 50 years.

Cooper is challenging Republican incumbent Pat McCrory for the governor’s mansion come November 8. McCrory signed HB 2, the infamous anti-LGBT ‘bathroom bill’, into law and has repeatedly defended it. Cooper, however, has been a vocal critic of the discriminatory legislation.

In the new ad, Lennie Gerber and Pearl Berlin share their story of fighting for equality in North Carolina and the moment they got a special call from Cooper.

Via HRC:

In the ad, Lennie talks about the congratulatory phone call she and Pearl received from Attorney General Cooper after their marriage was finally legalized: “That just shows how supportive he has been. I said to him ‘Well, I hope the next time I talk to you I will say Governor Cooper.’ He’s a good man.”
“Lennie and Pearl are proof that despite overwhelming challenges, love will always trump hate,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “In North Carolina, thousands of pro-equality voters like Lennie and Pearl have the opportunity to defeat Pat McCrory and send pro-equality champion Roy Cooper to Raleigh to help repeal the discriminatory HB2.”
Equality NC Executive Director Chris Sgro said, “My friends Lennie and Pearl said it best, ‘The prejudice that still exists is very sad to me.’ This isn’t representative of North Carolina values. It’s time for LGBTQ voters to send a message to Pat McCrory and his cronies in Raleigh that we are better than this, and we deserve better from our elected leadership. I hope everyone joins Lennie, Pearl, and me in voting for Roy Cooper.

Real Clear Politics shows Cooper maintaining a small lead over McCrory in the Tar Heel State.
