National Exercise With Your Child Week = August 4 - August 10

 August 4 - 10, 2013 marks the 3rd Annual National Exercise With Your Child Week™. This week encourages parents and guardians to exercise with their children as part of a healthier lifestyle. Exercise enables children to improve their overall well being, to maintain a healthier weight and to reduce the risk of hypertension and cardiovascular disease.

"Some of the fitness points I stress for preparing and getting started with fitness include a baseline assessment from a physician, evaluating ones current level of fitness, setting goals and making fitness a family or friend affair," said Sheila Madison. "Furthermore, any sustained movement like swimming, running, bicycling, and walking can help reduce life threatening diseases. I think it is important for people to choose an activity they enjoy. The more you and your child enjoy your exercises, the more likely you are likely to make it a part of your daily routine. As a result, families will improve their cardiovascular health, energy level and mental well-being."
